Title: first endo appointment tomorrow!
Post by: Emmaline on October 13, 2013, 06:25:24 AM
I am off to see the wizard...   my first appointment tomorrow.  Hopefully I test okay for HRT.   :)

That said I am painfully aware I cannot start taking hormones till I bank enough sperm (damn... what a chore)  but by jingo I feel like things are finally rolling for me...

Nice to hear your on the way.

And you can start HRT, but get the banking done soon before it all kicks in.

Just a quick question, is sperm banking required, or optional?
I don't plan on having any genetic children; if I have any, it'll be by adoption. Were you told by a doctor to do this, or was it your own choice?

I was wondering the same, myself personally I see no reason to bank any of it.

Banking sperm is optional. Only do it if you want genetic kids later. I've fathered two kids so I opted not to bank, plus I'm getting too old to have more kids, IMO.

Banking is optional.  Im planning on being a... what is the right word for me... father?  Mother?   ???

It went really well, I can start as soon as I bank.  Yay!

Thats a tough break- we all seem to be hurt by lack of information.  I would have transitioned decades ago had I known it existed.

Well there is hope still in skin cell to sperm/egg research.  Very promising to all infertile or same sex research.

Congrats!  I opted not to bank both because I don't particularly think I want kids anyway, and because there was no way on earth I'd be able to afford it!! but its true, it's kind of now or never once you've been on HRT for a bit, so it is a big decision to make.

best of luck!

Awesomesauce, big fat gratz!!!

I don't really want my own kids, it'd be the adoption route for me.  My brothers already have enough between them for my liking (though I am of the opinion that I'm the only 1 off us that should actually be reproducing!)

Thanks all... how did that phone call go did you get in?

Adoption was fine for me too... but my wife wants a little version of me... perhaps with a tad less gender issues.   Lol.
Besides, better safe than sorry.

Sperm banking..  yet another ts expense.

I have a feeling any genetics over gender issues follow the mother's line. No science, but trans* is based on the hormones she puts down there, right?

I have a couple young mes at home... though my son's looks come from his mother's side. My daughter's looks and some of her personality come from me, I think.
