Title: Sunday was an amazing day!
Post by: Danelle M on June 25, 2007, 01:06:54 PM
Sunday June 26, I came out to my sister and my mother! My sister and I talked about it for about an hour and and in the end she told me the same thing that my brother told me when I came out to him. She told me that she believes that it is a naturally occurring phenomenon in human and animals alike, and that she supports me. My mother and I had a slightly more lengthy discussion but in the end she told me that I am her child and her love is unconditional! Then she started giving me tips on shaving legs and what not. I was really really stunned. She also told me that she was not shocked nor surprised, and that she wants me to find a therapist soon in order to help me make sense of who I am.

How I came out to them was along the lines of just strait up telling them with out fear. YAY GO ME!

her love is unconditional!

Why can't every parent think like this? Those are the exact same words my parents said to me when I came out to them, but there are so many parents that DO have conditions for being their child and gaining their love. Anyways, I'm so happy for you that your family is so supportive and understanding of the situation!

It really is nice when sib's and parents are so supportive.   That will really help.

Best Wishes

I just did the same thing today with my mother, and I feel great, like the weight on my shoulders has been lifted, and the storm clouds are lifting. I don't think my sister needs to find out at this time, at least not until it becomes noticeable.

It's interesting how so many things in life aren't as scary as I make them out to be. In the last two months I've already proven that to myself three times. It's not my last talk with my mother, she does want to know more now. Sounds like I may be able to count on her for supporting my transition after all, which is a great relief to me.

Danyelle... wooohooo! congrats.

You've given me hope that maybe it won't be so hard when I come out to my family.

Ummm.. what magic words did you use? ;)

hehe, no magic words here, I was just very honest and explained it as I am still the same exact person, just a different gender...
