So i called the only place in my town that does laser hair removal. Im wondering is $200 a session for just lip and chin normal, or should i look for a different place that wont gouge me with abnormally high prices.

That seems a little bit steep to me, I am in the UK though so I don't know what the average over there.
I pay £110 a session for full face and neck somewhere that is on the higher end of clinics. That works out to about USD175 I think, depending on the exchange rate, so for $200 I;d be expecting at least the full face/neck area...
Laser is like clothes - the base price is completely ridiculous; you have to find a good deal to get any value from it.
I ended up paying $200 a session on my face, but the local place had a 50% off sale this month so I signed up to do my arms for half that.

I was charged around US$2000 covering ten sessions for my entire face and throat.
Check Groupon for good deals on packages. I see some amazing prices on a fairly regular basis.

only chin and lip. That's not also for the full beard including neck, sideburns, etc?
It really depends on the area you're in. If they're the only place within driving distance, then I'm guessing they'll be more expensive since they have no competition? Where I am, it's about 200 per session to do everything that is considered male facial hair (i.e. face, front of the neck, chin, lip, sideburns). Packages of 6 usually run at 900 or so.
I found a place that does male pattern facial hair for 800 for a package of 8+ with a 3 year guarantee on regrowth. Shop/ask around you might find something good.
I'm being charged $250 session for full face and neck. The clinic I go to is owned by a dermatologist, which I think is important. I got quotes for less from places that seemed to be staffed by young, seemingly inexperienced girls. Remember, one of lasers uses is in cutting metal, and you're letting someone use it on you face, so shop wisely.

Form what I've seen, this is actually a bit lower than the average I've seen. I normally see $150 as an average around me, but I did find one place for $100.

That's way overpriced. Full face & neck used to cost me $100.00 per session.
Bare in mind that I have access to the price of a professional laser machine. It is over $40,000. That's a lot of money and a big incentive for the business that brought it to say and do a lot of things to get people to part with their money.

It was part of a divorce scam to keep his ex from getting money from his practice....said so in the description.
My clinic charges by 15 min increments and it's pretty steep. I think it's $85. I remember my first visits were around an hour for my full face and neck, but they had discounted rates if you booked for a full hour or something so it was much less. I go to a dermatologist place, not like a beauty salon. Although it's very nice, penthouse floor and everything. I love them though so don't care what it costs to go. They did excellent work.

90% of the laser clinics and techs I know rent their machines... they don't buy them. Also most of the modern laser machines, GentleLase, GentleYAG cost closer to $50-$70,000 new depending on the make/model of the unit.

Dermatologist are more expensive but they are doctors!! I am going to start going to one soon when I can afford it...I have done all mine through a place that does specialize in laser and electro but am not happy with their lack of professionalism!!
i've currently got a scoopon/groupon whatever deal going with a beauty salon, it was $200aud for six months. which was an insane saving; at rrp it was going to be something like $1500.
there's not really a lot of transparency with machines and techniques and such though, it's kind of take what you can get and it's not even certain if the girl operating it will really even know what she's doing. i've had a bit of effect but at this point i was really hoping it would be working better. after my next session i'm going to be looking into getting it done privately, which is going to involve a -lot- of research on machines. my results will probably end up here cus there is no way i am doing all that research and not using it to help anyone!
