Title: Can HRT cause a Pelvic Tilt?
Post by: Gina_Z on October 22, 2013, 06:38:25 PM
I've seen a few posts about this, but not many. Can HRT cause a pelvic tilt which is a more feminine posture? I think the chances of that happening are very slim, but I am still asking.

Well my medical school lecture notes contain these words, and I quote - "Progesterone causes relaxing and lengthening of the ligaments..."

So if you take Progesterone that will tend to change your stance - so yes under certain circumstances most certainly it can.

Has anyone experienced an increased pelvic tilt with HRT?

I think so... because sometimes it may be nothing more than a change in posture. I know that when my thighs expanded and more of my weight shifted to my butt (and less in front), it did make me stand differently - I look a bit shorter now because it's hard to fully straighten my spine comfortably anymore. I don't know if that's what you had in mind, but it does seem as though I stand with my pelvis tilted slightly more forward now.

Not to be overly critical, but...
In what context does this occur? During puberty? Along with bone development? Is the ligament relaxing and lengthening the cause of pelvic tilt?

I think jenna is pretty on point with her experience there. A tilt from hrt can def. occur, it just depends on context really as well as posture. But as posture changes, so does that tilt. I always heard it was estrogen that loosened the ligaments, but cool to see progesterone helps out. Im very interested in the context of that study as well as the study group in a demographic manner. Even if it was hrt based was it post menopausal, or specifically trans realtec? Was age a factor? Length of time exposure? Control groups? Any links? Published in any medical journals? Peer reviews? Etc etc?

Dunno if it is the HRT giving me more butt or if it is mostly due to changing posture, but the profiles around my pelvis and bum have become more s shaped rather than blocky straight up and down like it used to be. Regardless of what is causing this effect, I much prefer things now!

I know for sure I stick my butt out way more than I used to. Who doesn't? Sticking out your butt is so much better ;)

That is pelvic tilt right? When you stick out your butt while keeping your spine straight up and down?

Yeah, it's a posture thing. It looks very feminine. Very few guys have that posture. I wish I could post a photo. It's when the tummy is more forward than the hips and the shoulders are sort of back by the hips, looking from a side view.

That's interesting. I'm happy to hear how your back and posture improved.
