Title: Who am I? Art project timeline ideas
Post by: Joe. on October 25, 2013, 06:24:28 PM
I'm starting an art project I've named 'Who am I?'. I have a roll of paper approximately 50cm by 5m. My plan is to start from when I was born, and illustrate my life from birth to now in pictures I am going to draw. It doesn't matter how much I do as long as its filled from top to bottom of the 50cm as it goes along. I am hoping to use the 5m as a timeline and add to it as my life continues. I want this to be a long project so it doesn't matter how long it takes me. I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas on how I can illustrate it? I plan to use coloured pens. What life stages are important? How can I document different events in different ways? What are some important things I can add that I might forget? All ideas are welcome, I want to make it as filled as possible. I will appreciate every idea given to me. Thank you.

I don't know about the UK, but over here the embarrassing naked baby on a bearskin rug picture would be mandatory!

Cool idea.

Each grade in grade school I had a class picture, that may something to include, if you have any. Perhaps holiday family pics would be included too.

Maybe the people, places and moments in your life that are important to you. The more important the larger the illustration. It sure sounds like an enthusiastic project... hope we get to see some pics!

Since you were in the US army, I am assuming here means the US. Haha no pix of me on a bearskin rug but lots of nakedness. :)

You should submit some of those photos for consideration on the Devlyn calendar!

LOL. Hear, hear!

I'm not that artistic or creative, but I'd include perhaps items which represent an important event in your life. Like you know how people save locks of baby's first haircut?

Thanks for all of your ideas. I like all of them. The only thing is that I only want to draw everything.  I don't want to use photographs, if I wanted to use a photo I'd draw a copy. I want the whole thing to be drawn entirely by hand.  Thanks again, I hope that makes more sense.

Actually, come to think of it, this reminds me of something my ex made for her niece. You know those things you put on the wall that measure the kid's height? Well, she made one of those, and then along the sides, as it moved from the bottom to the top, she drew things that her niece liked. Her favourite Pokemon, etc. What if you made something similar, and then had various things that were important to you along the line?
