I put a flower clip in my wig. It helps keep the part in place. I really like the way it looks and it gives a much more feminine touch to my look.
It got an adamant thumbs down from my wife (though we are divorcing, so she doesn't like a lot of stuff I do.) She said there was nothing wrong the clip, but doesn't think someone in their 50s should have a flower in her hair.
Is this a bad idea?

If you like it, you like it.
It might not be age appropriate, and it might grab attention, and if you want to just blend in it might be better to go without it. But if you don't mind, then do what you want :D.

I think it's cute. If it makes you happy, then run with it. Being happy is the whole point, right?
I see nothing wrong with it. If it were larger, then I could see it being very dependent on where you were going.
I worked with a woman in her 50s who would pick frangipanis on the way to the office and pop one on her hair. Nothing wrong with it. If it makes you feel good about how you look then it makes you feel good!
Adorable, Suzi! Makes me want to get one for my wig. :D
Some women like fancy hair adornments, some don't.
Myself, I've worn Madame Butterfly to work and grocery shopping before...she's a bit careworn now, but in her day she was very sparkly and faithful.
;)

I wear Kanzashi (Japanese fabric origami) hairclips often, and only get compliments. They can look like this:

These are just some examples from the web; I get mine from a local artist who gives all the proceeds to charity.

I think it would look good. You should be able to wear what you want. If you feel comfortable in it and feel confident, then wear it. Your confidence will shine through and make the flower look even better. I don't see a problem with it unless it was huge, but judging by the photo you uploaded I think it's a cute accessory that will help feminise any outfit :)

Thank you for all your reassuring responses. I've worn flowers to work the past two days. No compliments, but no one staring, and I like the way they look.
I've had dysphoria in he past seeing women with flowers in their hair. The best reason to wear one now: Because I can!
@Visitor_591: (We're not using your real name, why?) I love the butterfly. If I get tired of flowers, tempting to give a butterfly a try. It's sort of become the unofficial mascot of transition.
@Maddie: Lovely! Makes me want to shell out for something much nicer. I bought mine for a couple dollars at a store for pre-teens.
@Jamie: I loved the serenade. I hope Sir James Paul understands.
@Everyone else: It was so wonderful to read such affirming and uplifting responses. I'm feeling supported for being in every way the woman I want to be. I love this place!!!
Well, I'm in my 40s I sometimes wear flowers in my hair.

I think it's cute. Go for it girl!
