Question:
Are you a dog or a cat person?
Option 1: dog person
Option 2: cat person
Option 3: both
Option 4: neither
Hello guys and dolls.
I used to be strictly a cat person, prior to falling in love with the cutest, sweetest, little Maltese.
Now I'm both.
Nero
I used to be just a dog person, but was found by the cat who owns me 14 years ago. Now I'm both too.

Cats are....meh. I suppose they are cute, but dogs are kewl. Especially Bassett Hounds, they are so adorable with those big floppy ears.
i haven't had any cats in a long time. now i'm the proud friend of a great dane and a guinea pig. i'm both too.
Currently, I haven't got any pets, but I have had both dogs and cats in my life...dogs can be fun, but only the cats have truly captured my heart. (As if my being a cat person wasn't obvious from my cat ears in my icon picture!)
I use to have dogs, but when I transitioned I had to leave them with my ex and children.
Now I have 3 Cats, so I am firmly in the Cat person camp.

And that 'lamb' cat avatar is too adorable for words.
I'm a kitty cat person, but I also adore dogs.... ;D

Right now in my house reside 5 dogs and 3 cats.

I would prefer a gog if I had time for a pet. The fish in the back pond are doing OK.
There is an addorable Dog across the road from me and our family had a great god call Matie who dies a few years ago now.

I said neither because first, cats don't really care until the can opener starts. And they always show you their butthole when they walk away. Then you have to have a litter box. Some will argue cats are healthy in clean, yet they have an open box of poo in their house. And they track that around the house and on your tables and counters between their little kitty toes. Ya know, that isn't granola and raisins there on the table!!
Dogs are just loud and bark and have bad breath and they eat cat poo out of the litter box and then want to come and lick your face :-\ They also destroy your yard. Then there are fleas, ticks, and muddy paws, then the weekly baths, heart worm pills and picking up dog poo in the yard :icon_blah:. Maybe I am just too lazy to own such a creature. I feel they are best admired from afar.
Cat person.
Every day our three cats seem to do something unexpected and we've got tons of stories of the things they've done.
Why just this morning one of our cats was sitting on the breakfast table and I didn't see her till I saw this paw emerge from between the cereal boxes trying to reach my bowl. I played with the paw before it retracted behind the cereal box. I'm not sure what she was trying to do but it was cute.

I'm definitely a cat person. I'm still missing Arthur, who passed on nearly 20 years ago after owning me for 10. He was black all over except for white paws and a white chest. I always used to joke with my friends that he was wearing a dinner jacket (tuxedo).
I love dogs too, but kitties (we have two)... we understand one another all too well ;)
~Kate~
Both, but I have a dog now
I'd have to go with cats since I have one (Or should I say I'm owned by her), dogs are just too high maintenance.
I haven't had a dog in a long time, because I can't have one where I live. I still prefer cats though.
~Marciel
Cats. Full stop. I was raised by a cat, really, and I'm a bit feral. I'm currently looking into moving to a new place and the first thing I say to all potential landlords is this.
"I have one demand and it is my only dead stipulation. I have one domestic shorthair tabby cat. He comes with me. If that is a problem, I take my business elsewhere, okay?"
they both have their qualities.
i like the independence of cats, you can leave them alone all day and they won't freak out.
dogs, i like that they get excited when they see you... and that they'll go on outings.
Cats. I've almost always shared living space with cats. Never had a dog. I live in a rural area so it could happen someday though.

I like both cats and dogs, Although I've never owned a dog on my own and had numerous cats who condescended to allowing me to take care of them.
My parents had a golden retriever who was just awesome. I miss her and would love to have one of my own but spouse says no . :( The place is too small in her opinion.
We have one cat who lives with us now. I think more than that would tax both me and my spouse too much right now and the future may bring us some others.

ROFL ;D OMG you're too funny, Lori. How about a tamagotchi pet (http://www.virtualpet.com/vp/farm/lleg/lleg.htm) then? they, too, get fed. They grow; some of them even talk and all of them die...

lol
As a child, I loved cats, and they me. I befriended all of the ferals in the neighborhood.
But we always had dogs, so I loved our dogs too.
When the last dog from my youth passed away after a long battle with all kinds of ailments, I swore to never go there again. It was too painful to let him go, poor litle guy. I was selfish and kept him around way too long. Made me grow up a bit.
So, I didn't have a pet of any stripe for about fifteen years, although I walked my roommates dogs, and cuddled with their cats. But about three years ago, a cute bundle of feral energy came into my life and warmed my heart. Now she runs my apt. and keeps me warm at night.
I love pets of all kinds, but nothing can cuddle with you in that lazy, dreamy state of an afternoon nap like a cat. Plus she is the best, most reliable alarm I have ever had. I have never been late for work because of her. She even seems to know what days I work, and which I do not. It's cra-zy!
If I met a gal with a dog that I wanted to cohabitate with, I would try to make it work. But the one thing about dogs that displeases me is the flea thing. My cat is an indoor kitters only. No fleas. But all dogs get fleas at some point cause they go outdoors to the bathroom. I greatly dislike that aspect of their nature. Not the going outside to go potty, but the bringing pests back in with them part.
I respect all animals but couldn't have a snake as a pet. Some animals belong in the wild because that's where their nature lays.
I like horses above all animals. I love cats too but don't have one at the moment.
I love my little doggie, hes loyal, friendly, fun and cuddlie. Hes my best friend and conpanion....
I love them both. We've had a dog and a cat at the same time.
The cat belonged to me. He only loved me and would take anyone else's arm off should they try to pet him. Hubby fed him for all those years and yet he could never pet Chuck. Chuck was a little girl kitty when I gave "her" his name. But one day when he was only a few months old, I discovered that he was a boy kitty. See what happens when you give a girl cat a male name?
He'd sit on the coffee table and swat at our dog as she would pass by. What a hoot he was.
Now that we live in the boonies, we have 40 acres for the dogs to run wild in. Of course, they can't seem to stay within those bounds. They love to go over to the neighbor's place for some reason. Most of our neighbors have mouser cats and I've considered getting a few myself. But it's a little sad when they mousers go to the coyotes. Perhaps they might be safer here with the dogs. I don't know.

I've only had cats for a long time, and only one now, but I do like dogs and will probably own one again someday. Right now I have a grand-dog (daughter's dog) who lives nearby that I borrow for walks, so I get all the advantages without the responsibility.
A cat person. I have one cat & a ferret. They get along quite well.
Definitely a cat person yet I like certain breeds of dogs like German Shepherds and Collies.
I love my cats and my dog, but I am definitely more of a cat person. Cats tend to be less work and mimic some human characteristics. While all animals have personality (for the most part anyway), cats seem to have more than dogs.
It's intresting that this thread should come up. I've been thinking quite a lot about this lately.
I would have said, until recently, both. They each have qualities that are endearing and can make for very different yet rewarding companions.
My cat died last year, at 17 years old. I missed him enormously. I kept seeing him in the corner of my eye, in his various spots where he would attract my attention.
But recently, I've come to realise that I've actually resented being at his beck and call, for 17 years. I've found it hurtful that he was only interested in me when he wanted something. I hated th guilt I would feel whenever I ignored him, as I did, often.
I'm really sorry he died. But he was old. I'm really sorry that, for the last few months of his life, he was miserable with his lack of energy. I would have done anything to take away his suffering as he cried while he was dying.
But I'm glad he's gone. I'm glad I no longer have to be thinking about him, running after him. I was fed up with his fussyness over food. His begging when I was eating.
I don't want another animal. I don't want the responsibility or the duty.
I love cats and dogs, but I'm allergic to cats and I have little patience for dogs (minus my current dog).
I'm more of a rabbit/bird/reptile person. :D I also love arthropods, though. I've got 11 hermit crabs. <<>>
im a cat person, i like dogs too but not as much as cats
Cat person here. My cat kind of acts a little like a dog at times though. Once it warms up in about March she will start going out for walks with me and she will come back in when i m ready to go back in. LOL
I do like Collies, border collies and shelties but its a bit hard in the winter to take them out around here without a kennel.
Dogggggies!!! :3 -wags-
I would like a catdog!
doggy ::)
I'm a cat person. I don't dislike dogs, I can just handle the general flaws in a cat better than in a dog.
I work full time, it'd be cruel for me to have a dog as a pet, a cat can look after herself much better while I'm at work
I could go either way.
I like both but cats are easier to maintain.
Gennee
Dog person of course, I love hot dogs!
A dog and cat were talking about humans
DOG: These humans, they pet e, they fed me, they take of me wen I am sick; they must be god
CAT: These humans, they pet me, fed me, care for me, I must be god
;D
Kate
dogs are the best, i haven't met a cat that was very affectionate. besides the one time rubbing her head on my knee when i was really really upset, every other time she just glared at me from across the room and if you dared try to pet her she tried to claw you. that cat is dead now and belonged to an ex but still, my dog i swear is sorta psychic. i used to come home from school really depressed and would curl up in a ball on the floor for a couple hours and he'd always sit with me and cuddle or give me puppy kisses (darn there isn't an emoticon for awww) one time, when i was barely functioning, he was whimpering and pushed me to get up over and over, when that didn't work he bit my ear and it took him doing that gradually harder for several seconds til i got up. maybe he thought i was dead? eh I'll never know. but he's always been like that it's like he's always felt the same emotions i have, loves everybody especially me ;D and gives me a face bath every day. maybe he thinks he's washing me or something  like he owns me. i wonder if dogs notice gender?
Though I'll likely never have another dog, I think I'm still a dog person. I was about to choose 'neither' which I might be nowadays. Such a difficult question!

Thanks for reminding me! I am not a dog person anymore, I was NEVER a cat person.
I am a duck person!!!
I love love love love love ducks. They can be as independent as I am and they can be affectionate with practice. They always look cute with their babies following in tow. And for their size, boy ducks have the grandest dicks of the animal kingdom while females have the trickiest vagina ;-)
Any animal that can take care of itself is a worthy pet!
I often wondered whether ducks south of the equator corkscrew in the opposite direction? (Well, not that often...)
I like other people's dogs up to a point (usually that point involves odour and/or slobber). I have good cat mojo, though - they come running up to me from across the street sometimes, which impresses the ladies (though my last girlfriend got jealous of how well I got on with her cat ::)).
I have 3 cats(Anna, Drusilla, and Spike aka William the Bloody), and a Bo-chi named Sebastian!
I have two cats. But I am looking into a new friend or two.
How can you say they are not cute?

Ferrets Rule!
Cats are AWESOME
Both
Cats! I have four of them. They're all nuts and think I'm their maid! lol.
I love my cat, (even though she's insane) and I love my dog, (even though he's a total wuss) and I love my fish, too (Glub, glub).
But I am first and foremost a BIRD person! ;D I looove birds. They're so quirky and crazy and pretty. They're like little dinosaurs in fluffy feathered suits. :P I have two parakeets and fifteen pet chickens, and I love them all!
I'm actually going to school to be an avian vet. :D
im diffently a cat person..
my username also mean "cat by night"
it not like I dislike dogs, I can be alittle scared of them because I once got bited but I think there cute..
it just cats facinate me and always have, they somehow reminds me of myself,
if I should be a animal in my next life I should be a cat..
and cats are also symbolic of freedom,
unlike dogs who just follow there master, cats are there own master,
I like that..
(sadly we are not allowed to have cats, in my apartment, but one day I would either have 2 cats or 2 rats..)

Yes. Yes you can. 8)
I love cats; I've only ever had one pet dog in my life, and my cousin and I were terrified of her for days. She was HUGE, MENACING... Yorkshire terrier named Molly. ;D ;D Sweetest little thing. She'd run around the backyard with me every day after school. It was really terrible when she died; my granny got a little statue of a Yorkshire terrier to remember her by. It's a little creepy. o.O
But I've always had cats. My 9th birthday present was a Siamese cat, whom due to my obsession with Little Bear at the time, was called Cat. I lined up a bunch of animals and named them after the characters, and my cat sat in line, with this look of, "Oh, humor him..." on his face. XD My mom made me actually name him, so he became Charlie but only ever answered to Cat. I loved him. He scratched my neck once, and I still loved him.
I had a cat named Jackie who became friends with a stray named Max / Maxwell. Then it turned out Maxwell was Maxine... and had a litter of nearly 8. ;D I've always, always had cats.
We have two little kitties now, even though pets aren't technically allowed. Everyone has them anyway, just hides evidence during the "stare around the living room" inspection. Skylar and George, both 3-month old sister-kitties, are the best ever. They can be so stupid, it's insanely amusing.
Demanding and bossy, though.
I like doggies and kitty-cats, and I really want a bird.
Dogs can be cute (when they're not the snarling, growling variety :P), but I prefer cats by far.
I used to have a couple of tuxedos (one at a time); the first lived to the ripe old age of 16 and behaved more like a dog - he was such a character ;D The second was while I was at college, and would wait outside my bedroom door - he'd sometimes let me get downstairs before jumping into my arms ^_^ Who says cats aren't affectionate?! :P
I miss having a cat - although even if my landlord allows it (which I doubt), I can't afford it :(
I am a total dog person. I don't exactly have a choice though because of my allergy of cats but from what I have heard about cats I'd still be a dog person.
I like dogs but I adore cats.
I have two of them, a Norwegian forrestcat and a mainecoon.
lovely animals
Wow I can't believe that almost triple the number of people prefer cats to dogs.
:o
That IS interesting. I wonder why that is?
Maybe because cats are awesome? ;D
Cats tend to be quiet, and enjoy solitude much like myself. I find I can relate to them better than to dogs.
I am definitely a dog person. We have a cat staying with us this week and she has stunk the house out! * She is a timid elderly 'House Cat' who never goes out so she poops and wets in her thunderbox. I don't mind this so much, but I do objection to her cat food smelling up the house. Because cats are so fussy, all day eaters her food is out 24/7 awaiting her pleasure, this is what is causing the smell. With dogs they get their dinner put down to them and they eat it all and the bowl gets lifted up and washed so any smells quickly disappear.
* she has also bitten and scratched us all to bits.

Kia Ora Sage,
::) You don't have to take cats for a walk especially when it's cold and raining ;) ;D
Metta Zenda :)
I wonder if 62 people picked 'cat' because they thought that that was what they ought to choose?
The reason I prefer cats is because they are generally more clean and better for snuggling.
Am a semi-professional "Cat Wrangler", have 3 Cats (2 Female Domestic Shorthairs & 1 Male Balinese Siamese). Like dogs, all of my neighbors have Pit Bulls though...
I can't answer because I'm ever so slightly biased... :P

Good evening, dear Zenda. ;D
I have to go outside in the cold and rain and boiling heat and other assorted climate-based issues to care for my outside birds, so I might as well bring the dog with me (which I have before on several occasions). :D I am willing to go through just about anything to care for my animals. The way I see it, all animals take work and effort to care for, and the way I see it they're all worth it. I suppose I just get along with the dog and the birds better. Sure, they're more high-maintenance at times, but the birds and the dogs like it when I sing to them; my cat just glares at me like I'm an idiot. ::) C'est la vie.
Love and peace.~

Dog 100% :)
Most definitely a cat person.
I used to consider myself a dog person, but lately I've been really getting into playing with and snuggling with my cats just as much as my dog. Honestly I think I'm just an animal person in general. I'm one of those people who can often have a really timid dog or cat actually like me :).
I like dogs well enough, but I'm more of a cat person. I think it's just because I grew up with them and am more used to having them around. Also, the furball at my feet will probably claw me to death if I choose otherwise.
He! Cats are running things in the poll! Bert would approve of that: Bert the Cat vs Cat Balloon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL3cKY1ptlw&feature=channel_video_title#)Bert The Cat vs Table TREATS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCqtAHfN1m0&feature=relmfu#)
I'm primarily a cat person, I like dogs too, but sometimes I think they just too noisy and needy, to be frank.
I'm a big fan of dogs, but I could never own one due to the devastation that would occur when it died. While I've never seen the movie, something like Marley and Me would make me weep.
I am an "all domesticated animals belong outside" person
:D Dogs are funny!
I love both! :D
Prefer cats and their independence, also self being catty at times.
All seems to fit.
Axelle
Ive got two dogs and a cat... and am allergic to all of them... they are all good in their own special ways.
I have cats and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
But deep down I relate to Dogs better. Problem is I've always had small dogs and would LOVE to have a big one finally. Mainly a German Sheppard. I think they are very beautiful animals. Also love Dalmations and greyhounds. But I would never have the room for one.
Thanks in advance for not doing any "Who let the dogs out" Jokes. woof woof.
ATM I've got a staffy x mini foxy she fits in my jacket pocket when I take the Sporty for a squirt ;D

I am a cat person, but I love my sisters dog, he is just adorable and wonderdul.
Cats are where it's at.

I'm definitely a dog person but I do have a cat and I adore him...
Three dogs that let me know when anyone's closer than about a mile away (slight exaggeration but... is anyone looking for a seldom-used used doorbell?) and a cat who, at about 2 AM on any given day, thinks my shoulder is his bed.
Isn't it interesting the way our pets have us so well trained?
Susan
cat person
If asked some years ago I would've said cat person but thanks to my stepdad's dog I have remembered how lovely those idiots can be so I go with both. ;D
Cats are awesome!
Amy
We have a household of humans, dogs and a kitty. I was ruined for bit by having had a "dog catcher" occupation temporarily. Most companion animal problems are due to the owners as our pets seem very determined to be our best friends.
i like both. dogs are more needy than cats.. so ill probably get a cat one day...or maybe a dog?..cat? dog? cat-dog? yelp thatll work.
I'm a bunny person! But to answer your question, I'm more of a cat person.
i have six cats, sooooo CAT PERSON
both, i love animals.
I'm more used to cats, even though I've known some lovely dogs.
our dogs think they're human. The cat thinks she is god.
Omg haha so many of us are cat people! Too funny.
Long live cats! :P
I am a dog person big time, without them i might not have made it to this age as they were one of the few things keeping me hopeful.
Cat lady for sure ^ยท^
Dogs have masters cats have slaves and I am definitely a slave. We have around 15 cats we feed 2 indoors the rest outside they all follow me around like dogs and are very spoiled. If you sit down your lap is instantly a bed for one or two of them.Fall asleep on the lounge outside and you may be smothered.Oh i do live in the country and cats are very valuable to keep the rodents down and other pests rarely do they ever catch a bird a bowl of meow mix is much easier.
Cats definitely. Never been a big fan of dogs.
I picked both, i completely adore both animals, i am a cat owner though >_>
I have both and I love both! I love how my cat Kira will sleep in my arms like they are a cradle. I love how my dog Schindler will sit at attention when I leave and run along the car to say goodbye. I love how my Schnauzer, Eris, will always look innocent even if she knows she's been caught. And I love how my cat Grant has sees everyone as a friend and insists friends pet him. ;D
I've only ever had dogs so guess i'm a dog person. I would like a cat someday tho.
Always loved all animals, so I chose "both", but currently we only have cats. We're not settled enough for the responsibility of a dog.
Both are cool but for the purpose of the poll, I chose 'dog'. Cats are all right, but dogs tend to be more playful. Cats kind of have this "screw you, just feed me and maybe I will let you pet me when I feel like it" type of attitude. :D
Neither if I'm honest, I prefer foxes.
6 cats, so you tell me.

Definitely a Crazy Dog Lady here. Our Maggie is the best, but my girlfriend Cassie is a Perfectly Sane Cat Lady, and I have to admit that her kitties are pretty cool. I used to have some sort of allergy with cats, but I spent some time visiting with Cassie's cats and didn't have a problem. I wonder if HRT changes such things?

I'm a total cat person. Grew up with both, but never could connect to the dogs. I mean, sure they're cute, but personality-wise me and dogs just don't click. We just stare confused at each other. I'm not scared of them or anything, unless I have reason to be, but I don't understand them either. But I connect very well with cats, even the very shy/scared ones, but also the playful and clingy ones. I don't have any pets since I moved out from my parents as they refused to let me adopt one of their cats, but I'd love to have a cat or two at some point in the future.
Definitely dog. We have a cat too but I'm not bonded with her. I don't really like cats that much. Cats are jerks! Dogs are much more loving and fun. If I call my dog she wags her tail and comes trotting over. Call a cat and they ignore you or look at you like you're a big idiot.
I like dogs and cats. Over the years, my family had dogs and one cat.
Our German shepherd adored the cat and regarded it as its personal pet. When the cat disappeared, my brother and I were told that it had been killed by an unknown neighbourhood dog while out wandering. Many years later, my father confessed to me that it had actually been shot by a neighbour. My parents lied to my brother and me to make sure that we did not retaliate in some way.
I've never owned a pet personally. The last pet I helped to care for was my mother's Yorkie. I cried several times a day for weeks when it died. I didn't own it but I felt like it was my baby. I loved my parents but I didn't behave like that when they died.
Cat. They're cute.
Not so much with the dogs. I'm terrified of dogs.
Dog person.
Even though I have two dogs & two cats I like dogs better. My Bichon Frise Melody is my best friend. :)
I LOVE BOTH CATS AND DOGOS!!!!!
Lol but seriously I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. And they're all my fur-babies. Though I'm not gonna lie... my cat is my favorite pet. He's just so sweet (when he's not a little monster) and I swear when he meows, it sometimes sounds like he's saying "mama" 💗
I have a cat in my lap as I type this! ;D
I like both but I'm more of a cat person. They are just so adorable and mysterious and cool. We always had dogs growing up though sadly because half my family is allergic to cats, but had lots of relatives and friends with cats.
I can't deny cats are jerks sometimes, but for whatever reason a lot of them seem to take to me, when they aren't being jerks again.
I love dogs but cats definitely win(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180824/898f92c5d0f7a8d209efd2a4755f4d96.jpg)
