I live in ohio and have always wanted to be in the military but last of which I knew n heard us transfolks aren't allowed I just wanted to find out for sure if that's something im never gonna be able to do.
Not in the USA. Yet...
that's too bad I know there a lot of trans people that would love to be part of the military including myself, I love how you said at least not yet like to see the positive lol hopefully it is allowed soon
"No," no matter if you've already transitioned? I know you can't transition while in the military, but joining still isn't an option if you've already transitioned fully?
Im not sure if it is an option or not, some people can transition fully before going either, I don't have the funds to completely transition first n Im sure theres not many out there who do in time to join
You can't medically transition in the service or start HRT. You can seek out private therapy, train your voice, crossdress while off duty and other activities to accelerate your transition upon separation. I'll assume the question was "Can a transsexual/transgender person serve openly?" The answer to that is no. Hugs, Devlyn
I have been in the army, know what it is like.
Inasmuch as everyone can feel the same about serving their nation, the simple truth is, it's an organization that simply can't deal with the fact that you'd conflict with the process in ways they just can't deal with. It's their problem of course not yours, but there it is.
They have no desire to mix genders for the most part, and they have thus no real easy way to cope with TG.
Maybe some day, when the military looks like a scifi where being male of female means nothing, and you are just a soldier, and walking from the shower naked past someone built differently doesn't mean squat, maybe then being TG and in the military won't be a problem.
Granted, some nations don't have the same issues. It's not a global thing.

Not after transition either. They are weird about what is acceptable and what isn't, even if you prove them wrong. Rules are rules you know, even when they don't make sense.

Encouraging. It does reinforce a truth though. The homosexual crowd and us, we expect the same rights, but they don't consider us the same group.
