The House cast its final vote 30 to 19 with two excused Friday evening in favor of an amended version of Hawaii's marriage equality bill after a marathon legislature session.

The bill now goes to the Senate, which already passed a marriage equality bill last week, to concur with the House amendments to the bill.

I was in Hawaii when they where the first state to try to pass marriage laws in the 90s.

All I can think is that it's about damn time, and I wish a very close friend of mine was alive to see it. Of all the states to pass marriage laws, this one feels like a very hollow victory because it came far too late for her.
