Title: Getting Kaiser Insurance In Los Angeles in December
Post by: AnelaKNieha on November 10, 2013, 11:42:47 AM
Hello,

I will be getting Kaiser Ins. from my employer in Downtown LA this December and need to find a PCP who is familiar and supportive with transgender needs.  And I was wondering if anyone knew of a truly good doctor in the Kaiser system.

Thank Anela

Hi AnelaKNieha,

Welcome to Susan's. I'm not from your area nor have Kaiser insurance, but I am glad you found us. Does your insurance cover trans care?

Thank you for your welcome, and it does look like Kaiser will cover hormones and SRS. :D

From what I understand, Kaiser in California will cover any services or procedure that would be covered for anyone that wasn't transgendered.  So basically, they took the "transgendered" exclusion out.  :D

That is wonderful! You should be able to get a list of doctors from your insurance. Then jump to Susan's wiki on doctors in your area and compare.

Thank you.

I knew that I was going to have to put a lot of work into finding the right PCP for me, but was hoping to cut a few corners.  Kaiser is such a big health plan with 100's of doctors in my area, and know that it's going to take some doing find one that I don't have to educate.
