I'm pretty excited and little nervous My therapist and I agreed I could start coming to therapy in a dress. This is so cool to me, but the Idea a waiting for her in the reception room is a little unnerving Also checking in with the receptionist is going to be a challenge . I've never done any thing like this before ,Plus all the other doctors seeing me is pretty freaky. I have to do this because I want to live as a woman. I have to put this man thing far behind me. Also walking around the neighborhood to get to the office. The office is three blocks from where I live. I have a couple of weeks to think about this because I need to buy a dress.
Evecrook,
Freightening, yes....but also exciting? This is a big step. (I was actually more afraid of getting the dress!) But a step we we all take to be us.
Wishing you great success.
Jen
thanks
I just had my first therapy session properly dressed today. My therapist did a double-take and sounded a bit surprised when she said I was beautiful. I don't know if she says that to all the girls or not, but it made me very happy.
After we sat down over coffee, she said it was wonderful to meet me as "me". We had a wonderful chat, she gave me some exercises to go over when I'm feeling particularly down (analyze the negative thinking that got me there, work out concrete reasons to refute that negative thinking, rinse, repeat), and gave me the contact information for two women who are farther along in their transition (who volunteered to help others who wanted it). One is a police officer who transitioned on the job and another is someone who I suspect I've already met here on Susan's.
I hope you have a similarly positive experience. It takes courage, yes, especially going on your own, but you can do it! After all, you're building to the time when you will be doing it every day without a second thought! *hug*
every day would be great.
Robin, Eve - great news for you both. I'm contemplating similar to see my shrink which is a three block walk from work... so yeah, I'd need to change at work and go to and from work. An interesting challenge!
Imagine how wonderful you'll feel when you get home. I bet you'll be walking on sunshine! :)
