This was inspired by a PM I sent a forum buddy... it's a bit of silly fun, but think of it as a pseudo sci-fi concept that would make the transition for trans women so much easier if it really existed. And if you have an idea for a similarly improbable invention that would really make a difference for any and all trans* folk, post it here too. With or without a sales pitch ;D
The Medusa 1000TM
Electrolysis... it's such a damned slow, expensive and painful process! But no more!!
The Medusa 1000TM has 10-20,000 fibre optic nano probes that are laser guided by robo-tendrils into each follicle and which emit rapid low intensity bursts of laser heat over ten or so minutes, slowly doing the same job as conventional electrolysis but with minimal pain and no swelling or worry about scarring. As it removes itself from the cauterised follicle the nano probe also removes the hair. And hey presto, totally beard free in one, maybe two, quarter hour sessions!
(It's called The MedusaTM because it look like thousands of hair thin snakes.)
So what's your awesome invention for the benefit of all of trans kind?

Maybe not as dramatic a post as yours, Grace, but a tanning bed looking device that transforms your body, almost like in "Number 12 Looks Just Like You" to a preset way, as imput by a cosmetic "surgeon," who would do a VFFS (or the male equivalent? ) prior, and that would be the preset.
i came across this in one of my daydreams. it's a radiation room. you set the radiation quality from outside, and the person who wants to change has to spend one night in it. they are exposed to electromagnetic radiation throughout the night and the radiation mutates your X genes to Y, or the other way round. with precise radiation settings, your body transforms into the target gender overnight and continuing your life from there, your body now produces the right hormones and completes the transition in a matter of months!
oh i also have some mythical concepts as well. i think turning into a vampire will give you the prefered body. when your body transforms into a vampire many changes occur and the final outcome is a sharpened version of your self image. since our self image has our true gender, the vampire body you get will have the right parts on it.
another concept i extracted from jurassic park. they made only female dinosaurs to prevent their breeding, but over time some female dinosaurs mutate into male ones and they breed, which was interpreted as an adaptation by nature to continue the species. so i thought, if i were isolated in an island with a girl (my most serious crush) for long enough, as i have more male traits i would naturally get transformed into a male body.
there are more but i can't recall them all now. yeah they all happened in my daydreams.
I once had a silly little fantasy about being abducted by aliens -- and since we all know how much they love turning cows inside out and leaving gibberish symbols in crop fields that probably translate to something like, "haha you earthlings are so stupid!" I figured maybe they'd stick me in some gene morphing machine and turn me into a woman. They'd be giggling in anticipation of the look on my face when I awake to see what horrors had befallen me! But the joke is on them! I love the new me! And I live happily ever after! (Assuming they let me off the ship alive.)
A possible future for transwomen is stem cells being used to develop a working female reproductive system.
Or how about this: Time travel that doesn't involve going back and seeing yourself (two yous) but instead works more like rewinding your life (you get to live the past again.) You get some sort of injection that either blocks your body's ability to develop a Y chromosome or forces it to develop. The injection is administered by the machine which sends you back to the exact time the chromosome would or would not have developed. It uses quantum entanglement (somehow ::)) so that it willl remain active once you're in the past. You're back in the womb, you develop into the boy or girl you always wanted to be, and you live your life never realizing that you had already lived it once before in the wrong body... except maybe for the occasional deja vu. ;)
Electric dog polisher.

It may not be trans-specific, but sure would help with shedding problems.
Here's a few more... ;D
Voice modulator
A device the size of a pin head, implanted just above the vocal chords allows you to fine tune your voice to whatever pitch/tone you require. As it has bluetooth you can control it with an app in case you haven't transitioned full time and need to switch back and forth. Be careful of using the wrong setting or having a third party hijack it!!
Body Swap machine
Any one remember/seen Gilligan's Island? One episode feature a mad scientist who had a body swap machine. I'm pretty sure I remember Ginger and the Skipper swapping bodies, or was that the Professor and Mary Anne?? Anyhoo, the service would allow trans men and trans women to find their ideal swap and zappo they could just become the other person.
Transporter
The Star Trek transporter is a great way to get from A to B in an eye's blink, but does come with the risk of bizarre accidents - two individuals fused into a single individual, one person duplicated exactly, three people de-aged to childhood, two people turned into invisible phantoms, one person split into two identities (nasty/nice), etc! So why not calibrate the transporter's buffer to change that pesky XX/XY chromosome as required? Instead of "Beam me up, Scotty" it' would be "Change my gender, Scotty"!

Body Swap machine
When I was a kid I searched all these books on magick (the kind with the 'K'! "Real" magic!) looking for a body swap spell so I could steal some girl's life. (Nobody in particular!)
I was fully commited to the idea too! And it's such an evil thing to do! I know it's terrible, but it's kinda funny too... in retrospect. ::)
Sorry for the off-topic response. Here's squirrels with lightsabers.

Now we're back to the future. :icon_mrhappy:
Aw, it's Darth Fuzzy Tail vs Jedi Master Squeakers!
During a particularly confused and depressed phase in my early university years I was "writing" a book about a guy (me, obviously) who has the ability to take over someone's body by using telepathic powers to swap minds. It was the ultimate escapist fantasy, I hated my life and living for a short while as someone else seemed like a wonderful release.
He ends up becoming obsessed with a fellow student (you guessed it, a woman) and decides to take over her life permanently. Of course it doesn't go as planned and "his" first experience of a period really weirds "him" out and, in other parts, lesbian fantasy scenarios ensue. (I use "him" and "his" because, I didn't write it with that character being trans* even though it's pretty obviously the case in hindsight.)
Gosh, haven't thought about that in so long, it was a pretty dark piece of fiction, I tried writing it at a time I was miserable about myself and my life without understanding why. I put down the pen because it disturbed me too much, but thinking about it now, what a cry for help it was!
Once they figure out how to de-materialize and transport matter, IE basically like a beaming device, perhaps some day they'll figure out how to put everything back together in a different manner than it was originally. If someone could figure out how to do such a thing, that would mean 100% perfect surgeries would be possible, which could mean for conventional medicine things like removing tumors with no surgery would be possible, and for trans people, we could actually completely re-shape our bodies pretty much in a single instant to something that would be virtually identical to a cis-person's body.
Probably not going to happen in our lifetimes, but I think it might be possible one day.
