Title: MTF: therapists doctors and our checkups
Post by: spx_1112 on November 19, 2013, 07:28:09 AM
Do you see male or female?  Does it depend on where you are in transition and full time?  Are you also seen by a nursing staff? How often do you see your doctors?

Weekly
Monthly
Quarterly
Annually

Therapists
GPS
Internists
OB/GYNs

I always prefer pink exam gowns over the blue or green ones.

I am post-op just over 10.5 years and I see my endocrinologist once a year and I see my pcp about once a year. Both my doctors are men and I honestly don't have a problem with that. I don't care what I change into, as I am long past pink and blue. :)

I am pre-op, almost 3 years on HRT.. full-time also almost the same period.

I see the a nurse for my "lady-juice" injections weekly, the doctor I see once a quarter for a checkup.. to test levels etc.

My doctor is a lady, she was recommended to me, with I started HRT. She is really nice and she joked with me, when I started, she loved building women. I now I am glad she is a lady, as she knows what it is like to a be woman and she experienced puberty as a lady..

Gender of my docs no longer phase me. My doc presents pretty androgynously. I never asked how they identify as I really don't care much. No therapist unless you count Susan's.

I only saw my therapist pre-HRT to get my letter. He's kinda cute too, which made me feel slightly awkward sometimes lol. But he was really nice and actually cared about helping.

My endo is a guy too and I see him every three months right now so I don't wait too long to change my doses. I don't find it too awkward talking to him about this stuff but it is a bit awkward when he feels my bewbs.  :embarrassed:

Gender of my doctors has never mattered much to me. Both my therapist and endo are ladies while my PCP is a older man. I used to avoid doctors like the plague prior to starting my transition.
I only saw my therapist in order to get my letter to start hrt. Though recently I started speaking with my therapist about restarting sessions again. It was nice having someone outside of my daily life to speak too every so often.
I've only recently started my transition so I've seen my endo twice so far, 3 months apart and my next appointment is scheduled for the same quarterly set up.

I've lost 20 lbs. since i Started and no matter how i try I can't gain it back. I'm only 125 lbs. now which seems good, but I looked more femme at 130 lbs. And I'd probably look even better at 135. I'm about 5'5 or 5'6, so that seems good. I've lost half an inch of cup size since deflating to 125. I think it's from muscle loss. But now it's starting to concern me. I'm in perfect health that doctor said, so IDK.

I quit seeing my therapist about six months before GRS (although she kept bugging me to come back for a while there). Therapist was a woman.

Endocrinologist is every six months, and is a woman. I'm over a year post-op now; it was every three months until the dose stabilized again after surgery.

GP is once a year for routine physicals, and is a man; I did even let him do a gyn exam when I was having issues, because I'm very comfortable with him. I see either him or one of the NPs if I'm actually sick.

Last time I saw a therapist was march for my referral and recommendation letter.  Before srs/grs I never had an opinion on gender of doctors now however well depends on what im being seen for but as my list is. My old pcp was a male now my new one is female and is also my endo. My gyno is female. My pain mngmnt team is male and female and my spinal specialist is male.

My PCP is male. The nursing staff who take blood are mainly female. I see them every three months. I don't have or desire to see a therapist. For the doctore I don't care about gender. But for a therpaist I would prefer a female as women would be able to identify with me. And I with them.
