Title: Got my appointment/letter(?)!
Post by: LittleEmily24 on November 21, 2013, 12:14:05 PM
Sooo I finally got my appointment with an endo to have my levels checked and see where to get me started. I feel so relieved because before being able to set up the appointment, i had been calling multiple endo's in my area and most of them were incredibly high priced and didnt take insurance as well as were not allowing me to even make an appointment without authorization which my therapist (has a funny way of giving) until finally i managed to set up an appointment after being on the phone for 2 hours and my therapist spoke directly to the endo (they've known eachother for a while apparently) so i pretty much don't need an authorization letter. I actually can't believe this is moving so fast lol I'm a bit nervous but excited at the same time.

For the sake of making a post, I will add a question: What should I expect from this first appointment? Ive read that some people get their scripts right away and others have multiple appointments and then i've heard that they run specific tests and every has different tests :P can anyone give me some insight?

I can't really help you with your question, because when I started therapy It was for loss of job and depression. After a while In therapy I realized my problem was being transgender. That's  when I started HRT.

For me, my first appointment at the counseling center was with an intake person who took my information then placed me with a therapist. After some scheduling issues, I finally got to see the therapist for the first time. Basically, I had to see her for 3 months on a regular basis, once every 2 - 3 weeks, before I got my letter. I would recommend going for the multiple appointment route and talk it out to make sure.

I totally expected it to take multiple visits, and require a blood test first. But first time there, I got scripts for Estradiol and Provera. Blood work came just after that, to get my thyroid and maybe some other stuff checked.

Grats on the appointment. Hope it goes smoothly. :)
