Title: Had brow bossing removed but not happy with results
Post by: ColtenS on November 25, 2013, 12:52:10 PM
Hi, I'm not transitioning. I'm a 19 year old male who had very prominent brow bossing. I had it removed and I believe the surgeon did an excellent job but I'm not happy with the results. I was expecting something more drastic.

Is there much brow bossing left to remove?

Thanks

No, there isn't....your forehead looks too flat and a bit sloping....considering the rest of your face.

Do you think so?
Because I want to go under the knife again to take it back even further because I feel the front is still too prominent. What are my options? Thanks

You are fine but be carefull if you bothered by it there are always plastic surgeon that willing to do it again. I have slight more bossing than you but looking back at the recovery that I have to go through again if I do revision, I shudder.

you will get a very feminized face for a boy
And if you pull your forehead off again you
May not get any sensation back for life

It looks to me like there's ver very little bossing left...I'd say it's good right now.

I think that what you may be seeing as remaining bossing may just be your eyebrows; the follicles can push up against the skull, making the skin stand out farther.  I, personally, *am* transitioning and I would be delighted to have your brow.

Have you tried having your eyebrows thinned?  It's a nice look even for CIS-males, people appreciate a bit of man-scaping these days.

To me, anyway, it looks like your surgeon did an excellent job.

I think it looks good for a man. Less bossing might look too feminine. Try to take new pictures from a longer distance. You might like them  better than these. Everything tends to look too big when you place the camera too close to it.

Thank you all for your kind replies. I want to feminise my brow as much as I can without going "over the top". Because I believe that true beauty in men is to have a mixture of both masculine and slightly feminine features.

I'll be getting my eyebrows done tomorrow so I can put some better pictures up on here :)

Here are pics from today. I think my brow sticks out too much, especially in the first pic

I'm going to get rhinoplasty as well after I'm happy with the brow

You have to tell your doctor what you want. Since you are not transitioning, the doctor age you a smaller male forehead. It looks fine. Did you want a female forehead?

For FFS the doctors change the forehead to a female shape. That wasn't done for you. Try thinning your brows. I had thick brows too. Reshaping them changed the way my brow looks. I don't really have much brow bossing through, just some orbital rim bossing.

Having rhinoplasty will change the way your face looks, so the brow ridge might be fine.

My personal opinion  is that this surgeon did not get you in the female range.  It also needed to be rounded.  Dr O is by far the best cranial surgeon  He is better than he ever was still.  Upside is that it can be corrected.

If you notice, he started his post with:

QuoteHi, I'm not transitioning.

So I don't think he wants a feminized brow, just less of one. I'm guessing that's what the surgeon did; he left it as a masculine brow.

Surgeons will usually do revision work. I'd go back and say I want it redone, and be very clear about what you want.

You might want to do it at the same time as your rhinoplasty.

Personally, I'd want to see an xray..

But it may be there is too little bone left to take it any further..
