Standard Newbie Delay. I read an introduction from someone who joined a year ago but just made their first post today. So I hopped in the wayback machine and checked my profile. It took me twelve days from joining to posting. Now I post every twelve minutes! Fess up, what was your S.N.D. period?
Approximately one year for me. I had to get to the point where I could accept that I, myself, was transgendered before I could take the plunge. I think I was afraid of jumping into the rabbit hole until I *had* to.
Oh I didn't "Join" I lurked for years. when I did join it was a few hours later to my first post. Same thing at a similar site-Long term lurker before joining and jumping in feet first.
edit added: After referring back to my recent beginning here, it was twenty minutes to my first post.
Little over an hour after registering. I guess I just had to say hi.

This account, just under 4 minutes. The first time I signed up, probably close to the same. I don't create accounts on forums without using it immediately.
Same with me, I created and posted... but I found this forum something around 3 months before that.

So, my SND was short and unassuming.
23 minutes.
I discovered Susan's after going full time and joined to I could answer someone's question. So about 10 seconds? I'll have to look it up and find out.
I signed up on my first visit, and posted just a few minutes after signing up (which I think my first post led to a edit & reprimand from Devlyn Marie  because I didn't read TOS). Now I have 8.790 posts per day.
36 days. I lurked for three or so months.
Jen
About 4 days of chickening out before I posted. :embarrassed:
I lurked without an account for about a month or so. Once I signed up, my first post was about four days later.
Even after establishing myself here, I still lurk a lot.

This, pretty much.
Correction: I misread the post... I *lurked* for a long time, but signed up when I was certain and made my first post pretty quickly.
Two minutes, I have never read TOS, probably because I'm dyslexic, reading challenged, have attention deficit and am impatient, besides I have common sense and am reasonably civil. :icon_ballbounce:

Which doesn't include how long I lurked without registering. I mostly lurk on forums anyway, don't usually have much to say.
I signed up the first day I found the site.
;)
I'm just glad S. N. D. is not some disease, it looked serious.
Think I posted pretty quick. First joined over a year ago.

I felt the same way Francis, I thought it was something awful like the clap! :icon_peace:
Maybe an hour or two. It took me awhile to sort out just what I wanted to say, even if I said it inelegantly. ;)

S.N.D. = Some Nefarious Disease?
6 minutes, but I also know that I deleted over 300 of my previous posts and had asked for the account to be deleted, when SOMEONE *coughDEVLYNcough* convinced me to stay...Not sure how 300+ posts could've been made (and then deleted) in 6 minutes, but maybe it was a special Mod effect causing a nipple ripple in time.
I know I'm brand new here myself, but seeing as I've made an account and made a few posts: I guess I can count too?
From sign-up to starting to write my first post: about 30 seconds! ;D
From first stumbling across this place to signing up: about 2 months :)
I found this site I think aboot 4 months ago, and made a little mental note of it.
Took me 3 hours before posting an intro hehe
Well I joined and posted immediately.
I now hardly ever post at all
I think I first stumbled across the site a few months before signing up. It was probably through a Google search when I was attempting to get answers for any one of my interminable questions in the lead up to going on HRT. I didn't lurk though. I actually ended up at another trans* forum for a while and although it was a good space it wasn't very well moderated and some of the passions ran a little too hot, often over very minor things (ain't it the way). Anyway, one particular individual on that forum was a total drama queen, posted to everything and frequently dominated and derailed threads... yawn & grrr! At one stage she'd mentioned she'd been banned from Susan's (with some other uncomplimentary commentary) so I figured any place that wouldn't have her as a member was a place I wanted to be! ::) >:-)
Signed up and started posting pretty much straight away.

Same. About an hour and a half, though I could have gotten distracted! xD
Weird, I've only been here about 3 weeks. Seems like so much longer. ::)
I avoided this place because the old site I went too wasn't supportive and kept saying Susan's Place was full of "Unpassable Huns" and offered more advise on "How to be happy with your penis." instead of "How to get SRS."
Very unsupportive and I'd rather die than live a life with a penis. I got an even bigger drive to get SRS when my depression worsened trying to get used to the idea of being a woman with "something extra", and googled SRS and found an alarming number of SRS resources here. Not to mention success stories sweeter than any romance I've ever read. But I remembered what my old site (420Chan) said about this place...
Eventually I caved, glad I did I've found this is a positive environment based on helping build ourselves up into the people we're meant to be as opposed to moping and groaning. Yes Gender Dysphoria depressed us, but we need to defeat Dysphoria, and not let it call the shots. I am a woman and I want to be happy damn it! So I joined Susan's.

Well, I suppose on reflection, this isn't entirely true. I chanced on various parts of the site dozens of times before I came here on purpose :P

I lurked for about 7 months before is came out to my partner, then finally joined and posted almost immediately...at least that's how I remember it. Now I can't stop posting. I hope I'm not posting too much :D

Anna, total non-sequitur, but I love your new SN! Totally captures the spirit. :)
I learned of Susan's from a friend, who is also a therapist, after my coming out Transgender a year ago.
Once I checked out the site and registered I posted 20 minutes later.
Susan's continues to be a welcome source of support, inspiration, knowledge and community for me and likely the thousands who cruise or lurk and never post.
I believe we provide a very important service for our peers and society that is possible with our technology. This was totally absent from my life growing up in the 50's and 60's and hard sometimes to imagine how different it is for young people today.
Progress!
