Title: The good moments that keep you going forward, and more!
Post by: Megumi on November 29, 2013, 03:34:38 PM
Yesterday I went to my parents house as ME to help my mom make thanksgiving dinner. For the first time they got to see me and they handled it very well which did surprise me. What was best of all for me was that I wasn't nervous, had no anxiety, wasn't scared, I was happy and proud to show them who I really am. After we got the turkey in the oven me and mom worked on makeup for a while and by the time we were done she couldn't believe how much different I looked compared to the last time we did some makeup while I was in male mode. She actually said that I could pass just fine for a woman when she saw me in the full ensemble compared to what her big fear from the week earlier when she could only see me as a guy that could never pass as a woman. I have to say this was one of the best days ever for me as I think my parents can finally see what I was talking about how different but the same when I am being me. I got to spend the rest of the morning as me but then I had to revert back to male mode and it actually made me feel really bad but I didn't want to come out to the rest of my family in that way. Still I can't believe how far I've gone in the past two months as I never in my wildest dreams thought that this would happen, I'd end up getting closer to my parents, be able to talk about myself to them, and spend time finally getting to do mother & daughter things with my mom. She even asked if I had been taking hormones because due to the weight I've lost recently I actually have a figure and that was just the icing on the cake

Awesome! Congrazzles. :) I was actually dreading doing some mother-daughter bonding stuff before I started HRT, but now that I'm more 'girl-brained' and comfortable talking to my mom about this stuff, I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. :)

Probably no better person on the planet to get a confidence boost than from mother!

My mom has been with me since the minute I came out to her, but hearing her say yesterday how happy she is for me made me burst into tears. It makes me happy to see others having lovely experiences with their parents as well.

Thanks for sharing Megumi, doesn't it kind of make you want to frolic or do jumpingjacks or something? Maybe I am just nuts. I am probably nuts ;)

I'm happy for you! For most of us, there is nothing better than getting a compliment from or being able to finally talk to your mom about anything without being judged upon. It really boosts your confidence because for instance, I have confidence everywhere else but my very conservative family members are still the only people in my life I'm a little uncomfortable being myself around but on Thanksgiving, my mom complimented on my haircut and outfit which were very feminine-looking and it was the first time for her to compliment me as a woman because she was having a hard time. Small things like this mean so much to most of us in similar situations! Congratulations.

Thanks everybody!

I have a new development to add!

This morning I came out to my sister and brother in law while at my parents house and things actually went great. All my fears that I've had my whole life were just that, fears that I had created. My brother in law was actually very accepting and he was the one that I thought I'd have trouble with but he was 100% accepting once we all started talking. My sister though started off like my mom first did when I came out to her, but as we talked and talked about everything that I've been doing and my past and why I had never showed anything outward as I was growing up she started understanding. I'm so happy now that I do have a place I can go to where I'll always be accepted or when I need to turn to someone for help in dark moments. Best of all was that while we were talking my mom actually called me by my REAL name!!! My heart stopped as that was the first time she's ever referred to me as who I actually am and it felt so good.  I feel like I'm finally moving forward in life now that I'm actually alive.
