Title: I'm hurting right now
Post by: ellen b on July 04, 2007, 07:45:52 AM
My sister, who is supportive, is staying with me for a little while. I have lived with a woman for the past 10 years who obviously knows all about me.

This morning, I got up to use the bathroom, and everyone was up. My friend/woman (who knows I am attracted to guys) chose today to try and make me feel ashamed for wearing my nightie and for being who I am. She said some mean things, and then left for work.

I thought I was past all that, but am feeling very hurt.

I know she was just being herself, but still, after all these years of acceptance it still hurts to be looked at and talked to as though I'm a freak. I'm not a freak. I'm better looking than she is.

Sorry. Rant over. I just felt as though I was hit by a truck that came out of nowhere.

Ellen,

Its often not about you, but her and the way she feels. You become a sort of dumping ground and the people closest to us know exactly the right buttons to press to make us feel lousy too.

Who am I to say pick yourself up, lol but do try.

hugs and kisses

thanks Nigella!

Acceptance doesn't ever come easy, but damn. This hurt. After all this time to still be looked at and treated badly for having the "wrong" clothes on hurt. She was embarrassed and said some hurtful things.

Maybe I'm just too emotional

You need to talk to your "friend' about the fact this hurts you.
Sometimes, we let people walk over us in fear of losing them, but
its never good for us to do so, you can't keep this
emotion bottled up.

If she's truly a friend, she'll understand her actions and stop doing them.

If she knew it would hurt you, then she's no real friend at all.

So sorry you are hurting.

Here's a hug going out to you:

Quotejust being herself...

I hope that doesn't mean that she says hurtful things to you often.

Resentment is deadly. I would have a talk with her and explain how you feel about her hurtful remarks. I would even call her at work (if that's feasible) so you don't let this fester all day.

If she persists in hurting you, you will have to ask yourself why you are allowing yourself to be in this relationship. Your post was very vague but this sounds like it may be a co-dependent relationship.
