I've been on HRT for four months now, and I'm already changing. Not only are my emotions more balanced (feeling more calmer and at peace) but my body is slowly but surely changing...the "girls" are a little slow but I'm hoping to eventually get a B-cup, anything bigger wouldn't look right because I have a small frame.
The other day I went shopping with a gg friend of mine at Target and I picked out some shirts and two really pretty skirts. I went to the dressing room to try them on and didn't get so much as a wierd look. The thing was, I wasn't even trying to pass! I was wearing "guy" shorts and a shirt with my flip-flops, but my hair is getting kind of long so I had it back in a ponytail. After I went in, my friend said that she overheard the two associates at the counter whispering because they couldn't tell if I was a guy or a girl...they finally concluded that I *had* to be a chick!!!
I was sooo happy when my friend told me that. *beams*
Fae, month 3 and beyond is often the androgyne phase (it can later for some), for me it started at about 2.5 months. It lasted about 2 months till I had a 90% passability. The last percentage is obviously longer to get.

I'm not too worried about the last percentage, I know that I probably won't pass 100% of the time, but 90% is O.K. for me. I'm just really happy that after so many years of confusion and such I'm finally on track to being
me, and that's a great feelingNow I have a question that's been bugging me that probably only another sister could answer Keira, but...this fall I am going to begin presenting myself as female at school (by then it will have been +5 months). Should I be worried about presenting as female, but only having male identification? I'm not planning on getting my legal records changed until next year after I have my Orchi (not planning on full SRS right now - too expensive) because I want to see if I can get my name
and gender changed with my Orchi and a letter from my endo / counselor saying I've "undergone irreversible medical feminization" or something.
What do you think? I know my path is mine to choose, I just want to see what others think.

Weird, isn't it? Wondering with everyone you see,
"are they seeing a guy or a girl?" It's an interesting twilight zone few people ever experience.
For people who are sure of themselves, I hear this phase can be a lot of fun.
For people like ME, lol, it is/was a nightmare of ambiguity...

Oh it is kind of fun Kate, sometimes I can laugh at it but sometimes it
is a nightmare. I feel really happy when I'm seen as female, but I also feel bad when I'm seen as male, and it hurts but that is the price I pay for this *temporary* phase in my transition.
Awesome, I'm glad that you're passing more and more now.
If its not too much problem I'd change my identification right away.
There's no point to waiting.
If you can, you should present as female in school, it will change you whole experience.
Imagine your teachers calling your male name while you look like more and more like a woman.
Wouldn't you want all the women in the class, and possibly the guys, to see you as a women?

I already plan on presenting as female, and I'm going to send out an email to my professors informing them to address me by my chosen name. ;D
I haven't changed my ID's yet because of my summer job (i'm not out there and they're really conservative and don't look kindly on trans* people), and I need to save as much as I can for my Orchi and stuff, but I should probably look into doing it before the end of the summer. It'd be wierd to present as female but have male ID. The photo on my liscense is a year old and I had a buzz hair cut and a goatee! *faints*
But when is a good time for everything? Is it just when the individual feels comfortable...Goddess I wish there was a instruction manual for transition. That'd be nice, lol!
There is an instruction manual, actually several, check out the links here.
The best instruction comes from a good gender therapist. They are few and far between however.

"Instruction Manual for Transition" ;D ?
We all do it at our own pace, and in our own way, taking our own intuition, feelings, and needs into account.
Sure there is more literature than you can shake a stick at regarding the "technicalities" both legal and medical .... but for most of us transition is a private thing that we each tackle in a way that fits our own unique circumstances and personalities :) !
