I've looked around at a lot of sites and studies trying to figure out where I fit in. I would have to finally say flat out I'm a transvestite. I was amazed to find out that the majority of transvestite/cross dressers have very, very similar histories. I dressed the first time in third grade. I'm not attracted to men. I had a stressed childhood. My mother raised me. I don't feel I'm a woman in a mans body. I don't want SRS. I've gone through periods of denial. I've finally accepted that I am the way I am though.
The life I have now makes dressing very difficult. I am married with kids. I love my life; I just wish I could have a chance to dress more often. It does make those times more special though. I have a separate account I use for purchasing makeup, clothing, toys, etc. I also have a PO box my wife does not know about either to receive them in.
The reason I choose the term transvestite over crossdresser is that I do get sexual satisfaction from dressing.
I know this is kind of rambling... I've never discussed any of this before.
Oh yeah... Hi!
Hi,
Welcome to Susan's. There are a lot of resources here that you may find helpful. There is a forum for Crossdressers, so you may find other people who can relate. There are many types of people here and everyone is happy to mix it up and try to feel at home here.
Please go over the site rules. They set a standard by which everyone can feel comfortable while they are here.
Peace,
Rebecca
Hi Hidden (do you have a fem name, no big deal if not),
First, welcome to Susan's. If you look around you'll see there are many people here that share similarities to you. Although I don't experience the sexual side of dressing, that is a common underlying theme in TV's. I say just be aware of it, explore it, and be happy with yourself. It must be hard living that part of your life in secret. Have you ever considered showing that important side of yourself to your wife by maybe watching something like 'transamerica' or something and commenting on it and using it to open dialogue? I feel for your situation, but don't beat yourself up about it. You know by now it won't go away. Self-acceptance goes a long, long way for people in your situation. See you around :) Meghan

Oh yeah... Hi!
Don't be self-conscious about doing so. This is a healing place and a safe haven for us.
Welcome. :)
Welcome, hidden!
I know how much courage it takes to make that first intro. Good going!
There are all flavors and varieties here. You are among friends. And having this chance to explore fully and discuss with others may show you things you've never known about yourself.
I look forward to your posts.
Peace,
Kristi
don't worry about not having discussed yourself before. Once you're here for a while, you will become entirely comfortable with the subject. The more you discuss your situation, the less uncomfortable it becomes. We're here to give you what society in general hasn't given any of us; CONTEXT!
One day, the stories that have been told here will contribute to a TG history that will give others a background to which they can relate.
By being here, you will become immortal. So go for it!
Welcome to Susan's!
I spent many years as a TV. We value all sorts of input from all points of view here. I'm happy to make your acquaintance and hope you'll find as much help and support here as I have.
hugs & smiles

Love being female
Thank all so much for the support and warm welcomes. I've had a chance to look around now and settle into the crossdresser section. I've never found a more open, supporting and encouraging place. This is truelly awesome. I've really grown and accepted myself just reading the posts here. We really have a special place here and I hope to be able to contribute. Thanks.
