Title: Redness in the face
Post by: asiangurliee on July 04, 2007, 08:10:49 PM
Does anyone have any idea about how to get rid of the redness in the face?

I used to have a lot of pimples before HRT, while they are gone now, I still have a lot of redness blemishes that won't go away. Does anyone have any idea to get rid of them except using make up?

I tried many products that clean the face and the pores, but I don't think they are getting rid of the redness.

Redness from pimples that a LONG LONG time to go away, a year minimum if its a dark red initially. I still have a very slight pink blemish from a super-pimple 13 months ago.

The good thing is with HRT, I don't get pimples anymore YAY!!

You could use tretinoin (retin-A, renova, etc) to accelerate skin turnover and repair the deeper derm layers; by accelerating skin turnover, it will fade faster.

Also, I heard that doing several glycolic peels can make them go away faster. But, I prefer using tretinoin. Its very good for skin tone in general.

Also ...

Get the exfoliation going, I use a facial scrub once a week.

Might also be worth getting some facials done as well/

Thank you for the helpful response.

I only started hormones for a few months so I can't wait for the redness to go away, it would help me a lot. And you are right, HRT is awesome for getting rid of pimples. I don't get them anymore either.

I will look for the brands at the stores, don't know if they would have it.

Buffy , thanks. I use the Apricot Scrub from St Ives. My face feels so clean and awesome every time i use it.

I also use Biore to clean my face and reduce the appearance of blemishes. (I would be happy if it can actually reduce my blemishes)

It's the little things that matter when it comes to "passing".

Ohhh

I also forgot, I had a friend who had blemishes and she went to Dermatologist, who actually removed them by laser...

So if all other options fail, check that out.

Hum yeah, I thought about that, it is an option for sure, but i would imagine it is very expensive.

Apricot scrubs are not ideal,  the grain is a bit big, it scratches the skin barrier. You can get a better scrub (and cheaper) by using things like baking soda (very small grain). They actually use baking soda for micro-demarbrasion.

After you do a scrub (not more than 2-3 times a week), be sure to put a good moisteriser,
because the skin will have a tendency to dry out.

a good dermatologist will help. they can do a chemical peel procedure that will cause the outer, scarred and reddened skin cells at the surface to flake off, and under that a newer healthier layer of skin will make your face look healthier and less scarred. depending on how bad the scarring is will determine how deep the peel will be. looks terrible as it heals but when you're done it looks awesome.

you can also try Acne.org.  they have any info you could possibly want on how to, what to do, or anything pertaining to skin. just browse their message boards.

Acne.org.

That is a very good site. Supposedly, drinking water with lemon juices can reduce the red marks. I will try that for sure. =0
