Title: Games you're looking forward to! =D
Post by: ♥︎ SarahD ♥︎ on December 09, 2013, 04:02:47 PM
I checked pages 1 and 2 of this forum and couldn't see a topic like this, so I though: why not? ;D

So what games are you all looking forward to?

What prompted this topic is that a friend just made me aware of No Man's Sky:

No Man's Sky Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DptiuUt-m1Y#t=0)

Absolutely gorgeous looking game.  The universe is procedurally generated right down to the plants and wildlife on the planets.  You can walk around, then hop in a space ship and fly up to explore the stars!  The space flight is actually quite reminiscent of my all-time favourite space flight sim: Tachyon.  That's enough to get me interested just in itself, but a procedurally generated universe - if they can pull off such a feat - is a huge 1ft thick layer of icing on top! ;D

Eurogamer did an interview with the team (linky (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-09-a-future-that-has-a-history-introducing-no-mans-sky)), and this bit seems to sum it up:

QuoteSpeaking of cliches, have a go at this one. "So if you were stood on a mountain and you can see a tree three miles away you can go and you can walk and you can see that tree and what's under it," Murray tells me. "But also if you look into the sky and you see that classic science fiction crescent planet on the horizon, you can go there as well. And if you see a star that's in the sky, given enough time you can go and look at that as well. You can look at the night sky and all of those stars are actually real things, they are real places, and you can have visited some of them but not visited others. Grant [Duncan, the art director] said it the other day. 'Is this the first game that doesn't have a skybox?' It's such a weird thing, it's such a techie thing, but that should be our opener: the first game with no skybox."

Really looking forward to this one :)

Also while I'm at it, there's also Cyberpunk 2077 (noticing a theme here? :P ).  When I first saw the announcement trailer several months ago, I did something rather involuntary in my knickers..  :embarrassed:

Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y9711pvZkc)

I know it's a CGI trailer but if the final game is even a fraction as good as that and even remotely resembles the tabletop RPG (which I *LOVE*! ;D ), then I'm expecting my mind to be well and truly blown! ;D

So what games are you all looking forward to in the near future? :)

I'm not really in a position where I can afford many (if any) video games, but I am excited to see the Lets Plays of Dying Light and The Evil Within.  I would really like to play DBZ: The Battle of the Z, Watch Dogs, and then next UFC game.  I'm also looking foward to Tekken x Street Fighter....whenever they decide to come out with that.

Well, after watching the video you posted about No Man's Sky, I am now looking forward to it! I sure do hope it will be on PC!

I am also looking forward to the new WoW and Diablo 3 expansions, and Star Citizen. :D

I don't look into games as much now though, so I am a bit in the dark about upcoming games lol.

Hiya KiraD, I did a search for No Mans Sky to see what it was all about, it looks & sounds stunning. The head of Xbox One's indie games said he'd love this to come to Xbox one & so would I, on consoles we are starved of space based games, in fact on the Xbox 360 there are only 2 games in the many years this console has been out there are only 2 3D space games, pitifull!

Now for the bad news, the first news item about this game said that the games future is uncertain due to the developers offices being flooded on Xmas eve, they have been told that their insurance doesn't cover flooding as they are in a known flood risk area.
I hope they get past this problem but only time will tell, sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Awwws, that really sucks.. :( and yeh we got hit pretty hard by storms here in the UK over Christmas and there's another one coming over tomorrow and Tuesday which is going to be just as bad.  Insurance really can be stupid over here so that really doesn't sound good for these poor guys.. :(

But yeh, fingers crossed they'll be able to sort it out and get back on their feet once the storms pass, even if they have to move into someone's basement! because there's a lot of people out there apparently (myself included, obviously ;) ) that want to see this game happen :) <333

Dragon Age for me too!  I'm willing to give Bioware another chance after their failure with DA2.  The first one was soooo fantastic though, and the panels they've done during the planning stages for DA: I make it sound like they really know where they went wrong and what needs to be done to make the 3rd installment a real hit!

I know DA2 wasn't popular, but I probably disliked it more than most.  The VERY SPECIFIC events of my DA:O adventure led to an epilogue which would have made the entire plot of DA2 completely impossible.  So it really felt like they tore away everything I'd done and worked for in the previous game....

How? They seem to fit pretty well. I do know that DAO wasn't made with a sequel particularly in mind because it was just kind of an experiment, so it branched out lots. But yeah as much as I like DA2, DAO is waaaaay better.

Oh what origin is your favorite? I'm partial to the City elf myself! ^.^

Okay, caveat here, this was a VERY SPECIFIC sequence of events that led to my first and, to me, official epilogue for MY Gray Warden.

I was a mage who was, in most ways, heroic and noble.  I was in a relationship with Leliana, and Alistair took the hit in the end, from the Archdemon.

I demanded that the mages circle be taken from under the authority of the chantry, and the new Queen of Ferelden granted it.  In the epilogue it showed that this was grudgingly granted in the nation of Ferelden and Leliana and I remained together for several years as an adventuring duo.

Sooooo yeah, that whole plot of DA2 falls apart at the part where they specificly claim that 1) the war of the oppressed mages rising against the chantry quickly spreads to Ferelden and 2) Leliana quite clearly states that she has not seen the Gray Warden and has no idea where she has been for several years......

There's more, but those were the most important retcons to me.

Notwithstanding the ever growing pile of games I have still to go through, of course I'm already hyped for a bunch of new ones:
- watchdogs, so annoyed it got delayed
- DRAGON AGE DRAGON AGE DRAGON AGE not a week where I don't at least once cry about the perceived AGES until it drops *sniff*
- Warlords of Draenor because HELL YEAH i can finally play a handsome orc  ;D
- Fallout 4 whenever that may exist, I need it
- The Evil Within looks interesting, as does Dying Light, but i just love horror/zombie games, so....

My two boys finally forced me to sign up to play the online game Roboblox (SP?). When I went in my office, they were in there getting everything set up on my computer. They went back to theirs and they were yelling at me what to do. I don't know how to play computer games at all. Just pressing the right key is difficult. They like that we can play online as a team, and I suck! Has anyone played this game? Can a non-gamer learn this? I have no idea what skill level this is, I can't play any of their XBOX games either, so it may not be all that hard. Eh, any suggestions to learn this from anyone that plays it would be helpful.

Thanks.

NeoXYX (Dreamcast)
Dark Souls II (PlayStation 3)

Neo XYX reminds me a lot of Truxton, plus more Dreamcast games are always a good thing.
I really enjoyed both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, so Dark Souls II is kind of a given. Not sure when I'll have time for it, though.

Otherwise, I can't say there's too much on the horizon I'm looking forward to. I've already got more than I have time to play as is.  :P

Well, the thing about it is, it's not an FPS game. It's more in the style of Outlast. You can't fight, only run and hide. And rather than fighting hundreds of aliens, there's only one. And it can kill you VERY quickly.

Have a look at this:

It kinda sold it for me.

I've been keeping a close eye on Alien Isolation & one or two websites have hinted at "human" enemies, I hope they are wrong as I really want this game to be you versus the Alien.
This could be the first Alien game to truly nail the terror of the first film.
If it comes out on PS4 & is compatible with their upcoming VR headset then it has the potential to make me mess my panties up.

Only 2 games have truly scared me throughout my 30yrs of gaming, the 1st Resi game when a giant tarantula runs across the cieling at you (i'm seriously arachnophobic).
The other was playing Dead Space in the dark with a top quality headset on, when running from the unkillable creature my jet black dog came out of the dark & put his cold, wet nose against my face & I nearly hit him with the joypad!! (It took about a week before I could return to the game)

I think it's just perfect for playing in VR. I'm kinda interested in the Oculus Rift, although I have a PS4 too, so either would be good. I hope it lives up to the expectations.

I'm so with you on Dead Space. I'm not easily scared by stuff, but I had to take it in several sessions. It's rather... intense.

Is that your dog in your avatar?

I'm only into console gaming so OR will probably pass me by unfortunately. I'm still on the 360, right now I can barely afford cheap second hand games so a new console is out of the question for a few years.

I've got several friends who admit that the Dead Space series is too scary for them & yes the dog in my avatar is my precious Poopie, you can see how he snuck up on me in the dark.

Awwww. Your doggie is utterly adorable. I can just picture that huge wet nose making you almost jump out of your skin. ;D

I know what you mean about pricing though. I haven't hardly touched my PS4 since I've had it. It was a gift and games are just stupidly expensive for it. So I stick to my PS3 and laptop for now. Until the prices come down.

Dying Light
Far Cry 4

I'm a really big fan of the AC series and its plot. I'm also a really big fan of Dying Light as I've been waiting for it for a long time since I've kept up with the company that creates it. Far Cry 4 I wanted to play simply because I think 3 is a decent game and the bad guy in it was awesome, Vaas. Now I just want to see how the bad guy in 4 does. Also, all three of the games have co-op which is what I look for most in games.

I'm not really in a position where I can afford many (if any) video games

Do like I do wait for them to show up in the steam sales super cheap!

Steam sales are definitely the way to go, though there's a lot of other online retailers who do sales too, so if it's not for sale on steam check around on other websites for games. Also a lot of these places will give away free games. This month I got Dragon Age Origins and X-Com: Enemy Unknown, excited to play them and was totally worth it. (Since they were totally free.) :D

I would be excited for Bloodborne, I loved Dark Souls and Dark Souls II, but I could never afford a PS4 or Xbox One. :(

Frontier, Elite 2, sucked up so many hours of my childhood it's not even funny. This one looks to do the same.

This, a thousand times this!

I bought in early and have beta access and it is amazing! Even bought myself a HOTAS which makes the world of difference. Cant wait for the full release, 4 weeks away now!

This site is both heaven and hell. It lists games that are on sale at the moment, has caused many an impulse buy from me.

Going to have to take a look at savvy gamer. I use cheapshark, it's got a search engine which is wonderful and a bunch of sorting options. I've also got a lot of games off humble bundle.
Someone mentioned no-man's sky...another game I won't be able to play, unless it comes to PC too. :(

Yeah no mans sky looks interesting, also looks like a huge project, will be interesting to see if they can actually pull it off though.

Homeworld Remastered.

If this was under the tree this year, I would be like a 10 year old girl, squealing in glee.  I am so sad the collectors editions are all sold out already.

Elite looks amazing, I have to admit I am already feeling a little drawn to it :P

New WoW expansion, well lets say depending on whether my brother is interested I will return and try it, don't want to play alone

Heroes of the Storm seems like some casual fun!

I still have Syberia I & II AND Skyrim still untouched so I have plenty to pick from right now aswell

OMG OMG OMG I am so excited about this coming out! Have actually sunk to the level of watching people play it on twitch. I loved elite 2 and always dreamt of a multiplayer version. Only played EVE because I secretly wanted it to be this
