Hey girls, so I am nearly 6 months post op and I was wondering if any of you had a severe issue with discharge and odor so bad that you still need maxi pads?
What were your solutions for the issue at hand and if it ever got better?
Hi, what method of GRS did you have? Hope you are ok.
Sorry!! Forgot to mention that. I went to bowers and I believe she does penile inversion. It has been a battle on and off honestly. I have tried various things.
Metro gel worked for a little bit but it didn't fix it. I am back on metro gel again trying to figure things out. It's kind of frustrating because I know some girls that don't even have to use maxi pads and it frustrates me to no avail! So I am looking for solutions or I may need to see my gyno again. :(
I am guessing that you have seen your GP or a Gyno?
Have you tried the old stand by of medicated douche, IE betadine and water?
Sometimes simple is the best.
Hope things get better for you soon. I can understand how you must feel.
Izzy
Hi Mariposa,
What has Dr Bowers said about the matter? Even at 6 months you should still be using her as your primary care.
Hope it clears up real soon.

OMG! Cooties in your cooter!
I'm so jealous!
If you think you have an infection (which BV is), see a doctor! The over the counter stuff sometimes works, but even for cis women it's usually recommended to get it treated professionally the *first* time and also any time that it doesn't clear up on OTC creams. (It's probably not a great idea to try douching now, either, since that can upset the balance of flora in there even more and make things worse.)
I didn't need pads after about the first month, but I was also lucky enough not to have any infections.
I am an 11 month PO Bowers girl, and my recommendation is to get thee to an Ob/Gyn for an actual diagnosis as to what is, pardon the phrase, bugging you down there. I had a yeast infection at two weeks post that was related to the vaginal antibiotic we were given to use during our early healing dilations. The Ob/Gyn actually called Marci's office and let them know about the issue and the two of them agreed that I stop the antibiotic and use a systemic fungicide followed up with Gynelotrimin vaginal medication. The word was that the antibiotic had done so good a job that the yeast had no competition for the space there. I have had one or two minor recurrences of the yeast infection which my ex wife and daughters both just shrug their shoulders about, and tell me welcome to the club. My Ob/Gyn tells me I am in the range of normal and has given me an open prescription for the oral fungicide which I take as needed.
I used pads until just after I graduated to the once a day dilation regimen. I do self lubricate and actually did so more while I was doing multiple daily dilations, it is now more of an "on demand" thing than constant.
Another thing is that, as recommended, I do wear COTTON underpants and go through a couple of pairs of them per day. Every couple of days I will still do a sitzbath and carefully dry myself off down there. My Ob/Gyn actually told me to use a blow-dryer on my crotch area if I thought I might be getting the old male "crotch rot" at times. (It does feel good.)
Get the exact problem diagnosed, and have your observing Ob/Gyn or your normal MD tell you what to use. Marci's office will work with them happily. She even told me that last September when I saw her at the TG Conference I was at. I got my infections due to using the wrong goo.
I've been post op for over 25 years and I still get it from time to time. You need to keep it clean down there and douche regularly with an over the counter vaginal douche. Mine mostly appears during the summer.
Welcome to the club!!
I only had a really bad discharge once and it stopped immediately when I douched with a very dilute Betadine douche.
Betadine is a tradename for a Providone-iodine sterilising mixture that should be available everywhere as a dark brown liquid to be diluted perhaps a halfteaspoon to a pint of warm water to kill the nasties. Once clean again there is no need to use it so long as things stay clean.
Get one of the StreemMaster douches which has smooth nozzles with jets out the end to really clean out the end of the new vagina better than other types that have side emitting nozzles.
I have been very nice clean and sweet for about a year now
Of course, cleaning the area should be the first step towards treating BV (http://1streviewer.com/). Also, try wearing a breathable cotton underwear for immediate relief as well.
