At dinner after group the conversation moved to pets. Four of us at have cats. Two dogs.
Do you have a cat, dog, or some other pet?
Frostie staying warm.

I think my username reveals my answer lol :D
Frosty is a gorgeous cat btw. So soft and fluffy looking and love the black spot lol
I've always been a cat person. However, right now I'm considering getting a small dog, a poodle cross. They said this might happen with HRT.
I grew up with cats, and now I have two 4- month-old kittens of my own
My family has two black cats. My older brother (who lives in an apartment near college) has a small little dog, chihuahua I think, she is adorable.
I wouldn't get either unless someone was taking care of them for me, that and I am allergic to cats and dogs (My family keeps the cats out of my bedroom and I'm on an allergy pill year round.)
If I got a pet I'd get a raven, and teach class with the bird on my shoulder. I'd be the "Raven Professor"...
Never had a pet, ever.
My sister had a fish once, it lived for a very long time for a fish.
I'd love to have a cat but my partner will not allow it at the moment. Do tape worms count ? I've named it Cadbury as it seems to like large quantities of chocolate...
One of each. Our cat is presently on my lap getting warm.

You have to watch out for the one on the left though. She may be cute, but she is always very quick to let you know when she's not happy about something. :D

:) Love it
I love cats, but I can't have one b/c of allergies.
My BF wants to get a dog. I think "too excitable, energetic, and wiry-haired."
So instead we have two parakeets. :)
I use to have a beautiful Belgian shepherd use to grab my arm and pull me outside
I love both, we use to have a cat. My sister is however allergic so after our cat died we never got another. I cannot have a cat either because then my sister could never visit, plus I still live at home.
So dogs, I would love a ferret personally, but can't have one of those either. :(
Dogs
My Ozzy :)

Always been a cat person. Don't have a feline family member at the moment as I live in an apartment and I don't feel it would be fair for them. Maybe one day!
I'm a dog person, but I also love cats. Dogs are just more friendly, happy and excited. I love how they just pour out their emotions and are so free with themselves. While cats are cute, they are a bit too reserved. Still, I really want to get a cat one day. In the future I'd like to start rescuing dogs and cats from shelters and take them in. Unfortunately, I can't do that yet.
4 cats and 1 dog. All are rescue. The dog was from a research program.
This all sounds pretty evenly split. And I'm sorry for your pet losses girls.
We had to take our little 7 pound Lottie Dog to the vet when her cancer got so bad she couldn't walk. JoAnn was really upset and during a rain storm we burried Lottie under a peach tree out back. We rescude Frostie the kitten a few months later.
I'm not sure if I'll get a pet when I go back to Michigan.
I'm 100% a cat person. One huge fear I have is ending up with a dog person... oh how bad that would be!

We figure that Frostie our big fluffy ball of fur is a Norwgian Forest Cat. His meow is also the most quiet I've ever heard, and almost silent sometimes.

This guy was a skinny lil stray I saw on my place over the summer, he is healthy and very happy now and has turned into a very polite affectionate indoor kitty. :)

Ok I'm sold. Love dogs now too haha
This is a great thread, Kathy! I've had both, but dogs are my favorites, hands down. My mom and I have a beautiful black and white border collie, "Hallie." My late brother was very allergic to cats and my mom had been too for years till it slowly went away. By the way, my brother was also allergic to me until I transitioned, then, for the first extended times in our lives, more than a day, we got along very well. When he passed away in July, I was his sister.
Michelle, your cat is absolutely gorgeous! He looks like he has the posture and composure of royalty. (Don't let him read this or it might go to his head!)

To late Violet, lol, I've never seen such a sweet cat! His little friendly meow when he enters a room is just SO cute :)
I like cats. My cat Buffy was the greatest pet I've ever known. We take care of some strays now. I feel like its impossible to have another pet. I've never experienced the kind of pain of losing my pet before and it's still an emotional topic for me.
Tiffany, that is one of the hardest things to deal with for sure! But then another furry friend enters your life to help ease that pain.
My kitty loves to sit with me in the morning for coffee and bad morning show tv.

Cats are quite nice if properly prepared though I do struggle to eat a whole one. :' >:-)
We have two large dogs, both standard poodle crosses to minimise allergens.
Rosie
Woof woof, I love my little nibbler
Cats for me. We got two.
