Yesterday I was looking through a newspaper and I saw an ad that said they were looking for people to deliver phone books. So I called and the gentleman told me that they wre having an orientation later that day. So I went and became employed. I'll be delivering phone books to businesses and residential homes and I'll now be making some extra money towards my transitioning! :)
Congrats!! Sometimes things have a way of working out just perfect don't they?
Yeah, with all the problems I've been going through it's nice to see thsi happen. :)
Big Mistake! I started and had to load 575 phone books into my car. Yikes!!! Glad I had good suspension in my car! Spent 5 hours delivering to businesses and I went through $15 worth of gas. The next day I went back and told them that it wasn't worth it, so I'm unemployed again! :(
Oh well.
;)
hi girl friend,
at least you went out and gave it a go, the next one is just around the corner and you never know which one is is right until you get out and try.
take care Gina,
Jerri
Darn it at least you tried
Thanks Jerri and Izzy for your words of encouragement.
I went to cash out my debit card today for the work I did {I made $5.80} and I was surprised ad dismayed when the I was told that there was zero balance on the card. That's right I spent $15.00 worth of gas delivering telephone books ofr five hours and made nothing for it. >:(
Sorry it didn't work out Gina. I know how you feel, being unemployed is the worst, and has slowed down my transition timeline expectations considerably. You and me, we'll find something soon :) In the meantime, while I apply to jobs, I've been working a seasonal holiday job at Vermont Teddy Bear, and am looking into volunteer opportunities. Who knows, maybe something good can come out of it. Good luck Gina!

Thanks Jess for your sweet words of encouragement. Just heard yesterday that the Toys R Us will be closing down and laying off 400 employees very soon. Doesn't really leave much to go for these days. :(
Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open for a help wanted sign or glued to the classified section of the paper hoping for that perfect job. :)
