Title: Possible blood clot near breast??
Post by: Janae on December 14, 2013, 12:38:56 AM

Ok so I'd say for the past 3 mos I've had a small area sore area near the left side of my right breast near the center of my chest. At first I thought nothing of it, but it's been like 3 mos and it's still sore. Odd thing is there's no visible bruising, redness, swelling or anything. When I look at my breast in the mirror everything looks normal. I was thinking it was due to the under wire of my bra pressing that area when I sleep so I stopped wearing it. The other thing that's odd is the sore spot is only noticeably sore when I massage the area. I usually massage both breasts for about 20 mins, which is how I noticed it in the first place, with lotion once I get out of the shower or when I'm like watch tv. I don't do this regularly but I started because it helped with the growing pains which have mostly stopped in the past 4 mos.

I'm not sure if this is something I should even be worried about but the fear of clot is REAL.

I don't smoke, drink, do drugs, I drink plenty of water regularly etc. Everything was fine during my last check up. Blood pressure, calcium & cholesterol etc. I take delestrogen shots every 2 wks and 1 2mg estrodial tab on daily during the week I haven't had a shot. I recently stopped taking the 3 spiro pills I usually take for the past month & 2 weeks. Not sure if any of this has anything to do with this small sore area or not. I looked up clots and didn't find much on my issue. I did stop massaging the area because I read if it is a clot it could break off and travel to the brain soooooo nooooooo more massaging for now.

I plan on going to see my doctor on Monday just to be sure.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't... could be nothing but you are right to get it checked out as soon as possible. Good luck and I hope it is nothing.

It can be a small cyst. Easily removed if it is.

It could also be a clogged duct, which is common and harmless. Although if it's only sore when you massage it, and you stopped the massage, that might fix things. ;)

Not all cysts need to be removed.  It depends.  I have a family member who has cystic breasts and just needs to be careful with her diet.

I'm not sure what this could be, but definitely keep the doctors appointment.  It's very possible it could be nothing; however, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I never though of that either but I assumed it would've stopped being sore by now.

Yea I was researching it online. It may just need to be drained if it is a cyst. It's not a very large area, I'd say about the size of dime.

I'd feel way more comfortable if it cleared up on it's own.

Years ago, before HRT, I was at the doctor for a physical and  had a similar concern.  He told me that it was a cyst probably caused by too much caffeine.  I eased up on caffeine and monitored it and it did in fact go away on it's own.  It can't hurt to have it checked out.

Clogged ducts *can* clear up on their own, but they don't always. Plus it can stay sore/achy for a while even after it does go away - like any other injury, sometimes the soreness lasts after the major healing is done. (It can also get infected; if you do see redness/swelling/streaks or start running a fever, go to the doctor promptly. Not immediately life-threatening, but not fun.)
