I thoroughly agree that more research is needed.
It would be interesting to have some researcher look into the ways that our treatment BY medical professionals contribute to those who "avoid seeking help because they fear ridicule, guilt or shame."
It's shocking when I realize that during my transition nearly ALL the situations where I've been frustrated by how people act toward me or lack of respect given to me has been because of actions by health professionals.
