Hi ... After discovering the androgyne section a while back, and after finding out how supportive it was ... I am no longer inhibited in following my path. Perhaps not the best looking girl out there (as you can see from the avatar), but now confident that the changes I have made ... All the hair removal, the pierced ears ... all the way through SRS ... do NOT conflict with my being. Before, when MTF was all that I knew, I was still confused by my sometimes desire to continue living in the male role, and wondering if the painful aspect of 100% transitioning was really required ... But now I am free. When the work or social environment requires me to remain male, I can do that ... What they don't know won't hurt them, and it won't hurt me. But the rest of the time I am all the way girl. Well, woman I guess is a better descriptor! Now that I know the proper definitions of androgyne, and now that I know that who I am fits that role and always has (and androgyne is also a broad sprectrum, don't forget) ... I am inspired to be who I really want to be even more hours in the day, and at even more locations. Sounds like transitioning, but not really.
I hope you all are experiencing the same feeling of "ah ha" and excitement that I feel these days! Thanks to the entire community ... I read posts in all of the sections when I can ... Roberto
Hi Roberto :)
Since the concept of an Androgyne is brand new to you it may be useful to learn about other gender terms and gender types.
A Bigender person changes from a primarily masculine persona to a primarily feminine persona, or vice versa, depending on the situation. Some Bigenders consciously switch from one binary gender to the other, other Bigenders change genders involuntarily. Many part-time Crossdressers are Bigender. A Bigender experiences and expresses each of the binary genders in turn, alternating between the two.
An Androgyne is a person of a single gendered state which is neither primarily masculine nor primarily feminine. Androgyne can be described as a consistent balance of masculine and feminine or as a state of being simultaneously both and neither. Androgyne is a non-binary gender.
A Trigender person experiences three gender states: masculine, feminine, and a gender neutral or agender state. Trigenders have much in common with Bigender but Trigender is much more rare.
Agender and Neutoris persons are devoid of gender, null-gendered. Neutrois are gender dysphoric individuals who desire sex nullification surgery. Agender individuals are not not uncommon while Neutrois are extremely rare.
I hope you find this little spot of information useful, Roberto. :)
Gender is a fascinating and wonderful subject... and all of us are a chapter in Gender's story.
Hi Roberto :) Emerald gave a few wonderful terms. I'll add a few here myself since they make for awesome search keywords to find more information.
Genderqueer or Gender variant are more commonly used "umbrella terms". Androgyne only seems to be used as an umbrella here at Susans (for whatever reason...)
I myself have transitioned with testosterone and breast reduction, but present myself as generally gender variant when I'm out in the world. :)
Nice to see you back, Sevan!
I find this to be a good read ...
