Title: Jamie D appreciation thread
Post by: Nero on December 30, 2013, 11:30:21 AM
Today is Jamie's birthday. Please post something you love about our dear Jamie.

They're funny, generous, and caring. I know Jamie can be a bit difficult and at times provocative, but they've really done a lot of good here. A big sister/brother to many, they've mentored and counseled many troubled and suicidal members. They've donated countless hours to helping our members, especially our youth. Jamie also did a lot of good in their duties as mod. Everyone makes mistakes. And I don't think any one of us wants our mistakes to overshadow the good we do.

So on their birthday, please honor Jamie by posting something positive about them or maybe a good memory you have of them. Or even just something (an image, video, etc) that you think Jamie would appreciate.

I'll go first:

Whenever I am down, Jamie is there with a funny or sweet video to pick up my spirits, to lend an ear, or good advice.

Like many families, we have our fights, arguments and get made at one another.  But Jamie can be that calming voice.

Many happy returns, Hon.

Jamie helped me many times as a moderator and showed a lot of compassion when I was in need of it.  I consider Jamie a friend and am glad to have met them.

Have a great birthday!

Yeah, Jamie is pretty cool. Not as cool as Portia Porcupine but...yeah.

Jamie is amazing. I think others allow their bias get the best of them, don't blame a truth teller for the sting her words cause......... a simple thank you will do.  :)

I like her intelligence, honesty, humor, and compassion.

Happy 29th birthday Jamie!

This is actually the 29th anniversary of my 29th birthday  :icon_ihearu:

In southern California today it is about 70F, with a slight breeze.  So I am at the beach house preparing to barbeque a tri-tip beef roast and two racks of pork ribs over mesquite coals.  Low and slow to develop a nice smokey flavor and a pink patina to the meat.

Green salad, bacon potato salad, baked beans, garlic french bread, home made salsa cruda.  And birthday cake.

I can hear the waves breaking in the background.  Very relaxing.  Given time, I may take the dog for a walk in the sand and surf.  Some immediate family will be over tonight, more tomorrow.

By the way, n/a, I call them "Jaime" all the time, lol.  They'll just have to deal!

My coworkers misspelled my name when they put thank yous on the schedule for me working Christmas day. And today, the lady at Kinetico misspelled my name on the receipt when I paid on my bill there. At least I did it on purpose, lol.

In my part of the country, "J-a-i-m-e" is pronounce "High-may"!!

As it is, "Jamie" was the nickname I got from the girls in kindergarten.  I never have like "Jimmy," so as nicknames go, it works both way, male/female/ambiguous.

It is a yellow cake (not lemon), with a raspberry filing between the layers, and a decorated cream cheese frosting.  My youngest daughter made it last night.  She is going to be a better cook than me.  Baking is all about precision and timing.  I think it is the most difficult of the culinary arts.

Just be glad you weren't called Pat and then it change in time to pitty-pat, then pitt. And the odd thing, my middle name wasn't Pat or Patrick or anything related.

Jaime as pronounced in Spanish.  J = H  E = long A

Jai = High as in Jai alai  Me = May  Jai-me = High-May.

There is nothing wrong with it!  geesh, you people....

Computerized things that respond on the phone also pronounce it that way, kind of annoying. But there are a lot of Jaimes out there, both male and female, just like there are Jamies.

I always thought the Jaime spelling was a reference to the french "j'aime" as in "J'aime quand le nom dʒe:mi est épellé Jaime."

Thank you very much.  From the age of 1 to 21, every birthday is a celebration.  After that, the birthdays that end in 5 or 0 (25, 30, 35, etc) are the only important ones.  When you hit 50, you just want to forget about birthdays!  >:(

Nah. I will never look at it that way. When I hear my Mom, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, etc say that sort of thing, I just ask them this question: Would you rather be aging or dead?
