Hi everyone,
I live in South Australia as a fulltime single parent (35 years old), and currently reside in a small country town. Unfortunately, this means we have a few doctors who are all old, and not what you would call respectable of diversity or equality! Due to the nature of this predicament, I am reluctant to ask for advice within my own community about beginning HRT. I therefore BADLY need help with sorting out whom I speak to first. Do I contact a doctor first, a psychologist (can you do it via skype or anything?) or do I phone an endo in Adelaide? I tried to contact the gender centre in Adelaide four times, but they never return emails.
How did other South Australians go about this, and did it take a long time to set up. I am desperate right now, as I have tried to hide whom I am all my life but the pain is far too much to ignore anymore. Please keep in mind I have little children (7 & 9) so travel is hard and so is cost.
Thank you
Hi Sarah! There are plenty of Australian folks here. I am sure one of them will get to you shortly. Hang in there. :)
Hi Sarah
Hang in there as aunty Cindy is in Adelaide and will be able assist you here I am sure.
If not there are a few here from SA who could give their input.
I am in Sydney myself
Regards Jen
Thank you both
Hi Sarah I to live in a small town north of Adelaide and am also a single parent so I understand where your coming from in November last year I went to see a gp in my town to request theripy for transition and they didn't want to know so I had to drive to Adelaide to see a go who specialises in transgender issues and got a referral for a theripist in adelaide but there is a four month waiting list and I am hoping to get my letter to start hurt soon after so there is much traveling involved for us country folk unfortunately but its all just part of the journey.
If you need to talk feel free to pm me
Hugs

Thank you again, I have decided to first drop the weight and begin gathering info for the next 3 months. After that I am going to see if I can get in contact with the gender centre in Adelaide again (no one ever replies) even if it has been 2 months of waiting for a reply.
Hi Sarah,
I to live in South Australia, and don't normally post outside SA, but seeing you here I couldn't leave you here so far from home, I moderate on Cindy's ANZGSG site so please drop in some time and have a chat! it's close to home, you can also find out more info from gendasa@gmail.com on your transition options in South Australia
Best Wishes,
Poppy
