Hi!
I am new and registered because I have a question, I had my operation in November and have been doing dilation three times a day since then, I had no problems so far.
I had a checkup before christmas and everything was ok, but I started bleeding after the last few dilations (since late friday), now I am worried, I know my doctor said there could be bleeding in the first three months but I think I might have damaged something?
The bleeding doesn't stop quickly either, I had my dilation today at 9 am, and there is still some blood now at 12:45.
Would you say this is normal? If I have hurt myself it's probably not something you can do anything about but wait for it to heal?
I'll of course go to my doctor but I am worried right now and it's sunday :)
Do you think it's normal or could there be something badly wrong?
Thanks!

Did the post op exam include a check for granulation tissue inside the vagina?
Hi!
I am not quite sure? I was just told that all was fine. Could that be the cause?
I wonder why I am bleeding now, almost two months after the operation.
Besides the general tip to of course do a followup exam with either the surgeon or with a gynaekologist near you, I can recommend Estriol vaginal cream, if you are allowed to use it. My gyn prescribed it to me as I had vaginal tightness and need to dilate now too - I also had some very minor bleedind - the cream helps with making everything softer and heal better. Estriol is an estrogen, but it is not estradiol which is in HRT. Estriol is a hormone that is high in pregnancy and helps the body heal from the strains of pregnancy (overstretching tissues etc). Good luck.
it's bleeding because you tore some tender scar tissue.
the surgeon has to ge both hands in to make the hole so there is a lot of skin that has to reorganise itself post-op,
if it's only a tiny wetness rather than a trickle just have a douche to clean it and leave it.
I still get a bit of pink mess with larger dilators and I'm 3 years post-op.
It is normal up to a point, and you're still within the three-month window when the surgeon said it was to be expected, so don't panic. It's possible to damage something *slightly,* too - these are still new, delicate, healing tissues, and a small scrape will bleed a lot more than you'd expect.
The other thing I learned? Lube mixed with blood will look like a LOT. It also makes it hard to tell when the bleeding has stopped, b/c I was easily leaking lube after a dilation for at least 3-4 hours, and if there was some blood mixed in during the session that would be coming out too.
You can call your surgeon or a local doctor for peace of mind, but in the meantime try not to worry too much. Lack of pain and not very much blood (or what there is, either dark red/clotted or frothy/pinkish [that'd be the lube]) likely means it's not serious.
Get an appointment with a local OB/Gyn and explain the situation. It sounds like granulation tissue, which will require SilverNitrate to chemically burn the wound closed. As far as normal, it's hard to say as everyone heals different and at different rates. I would have it looked at ASAP though.
Thanks for all the answers! I will see what the doctor says, but you calmed my worries.
As to the blood it did look very light (arterial almost), I think the mixing explanation sounds the most logical, I do use quite a lot of k-y jelly! :)
I guess if something really bad was hurt I'd have some kind of pain during the day.
