Hello everyone.. I'm having a little trouble with coming out to my family. So far I've only told a couple close friends and I was comfortable with telling them but for some reason, coming out to my family is a lot harder.
I have had a small conversation about it before when I told my mom I wasn't sure of my sexuality a while ago and I brought up transgender and well, she said she personally doesn't agree with it. And my dad, I haven't ever talked to him about anything really personal because unfortunately he doesn't live with me and we're not that close so I have no idea about him.
I was thinking maybe writing a letter because it's a bit easier but I don't know.. I'm just really lost.. :-\. Any advice?
I say do what's easiest for you. Honestly, there's no right way to come out - if people aren't going to accept it, an eloquent, perfectly crafted speech won't change anything. I know from experience lol.

Thanks, I'll try to think of something. Right now I'm leaning toward a letter or maybe a text. Talking face-to-face has never been comfortable for me when it comes to talking about personal things.
Hi,
There some nice articles in the wiki that can give you some clues of what to write or say.

Thanks, I'll check it out. :)
Fair enough. I know when I came out to my mom about the liking girls thing, she caught me trying to print a letter and she was like "what's that what are you printing." And I was like "DON'T LOOK AT IT." And she said "...why?" I said "um, it's telling you something and I want you to just read it." She goes "well what is it?" I said "I'm a lesbian! Um. I don't want to say anymore, just wait for the letter." Lol. Don't let that be you. :P But they might want to talk about it after.

Lol, yeah I know they'll want to talk about it after. I just don't know how comfortable I'll be officially saying I'm transgender. :/ I'm thinking about texting my mom tonight saying I got to talk about something with her tomorrow since I'm somewhere else now. Wish me luck. :p
Good luck! It's not easy, and sometimes it leads to residual fights for a few months...but...it is nice to feel like you put it out there and no longer have to worry about "what ifs." You know where you stand, even if it's temporary.

Thanks a lot. :) I think I'm ready to come out.. its for the better. I want to be comfortable with who I really am, which is a boy around my family. Also, I'm a teen and I won't be able to start T or anything without a parent's consent.
Well I came out to my mom via text and it went pretty well. :) We're gonna be talking about it more tomorrow.
That is awesome!! I hope the discussion goes well.
