Alright so my boyfriend and I just started dating and everything is going smoothly, he calls me by my real name (Jay), refers to me as the correct pronoun (he), and he's all in all the best guy I've ever been with. Only thing I don't get (which isn't a big deal I'm just curious about) is when I asked him about his sexual orientation he says that he's straight...and yet he's attracted to me (a guy). What does this mean?

He's either confused about his orientation or he doesn't understand what a transgendered person is or....you are the exception that proves the rule that he is straight. (He really likes you for you.)
Good Luck!
Jen
This might be a case where labels help to obscure rather than illuminate. I don't believe being straight or gay are 100% propositions. It may be easier to just drop the straight vs gay labels and just say you are too people who love one another.
I don't know that this means he is disrespecting your identity or that he truly doesn't know what a transgender person is. But it does illustrate that people have a hard time processing what it means for their sexuality if they are dating a transgender person.
