Kia Ora,
I was just about to go out when a friend called round...He's just arrived back from the UK, his son who live there entered a National radio competition and won first prize, which was he could pick a person who lives anywhere overseas to come spend Christmas with him in the UK...So like a pious son, he picked his dad...So my friend just spent three weeks in the UK (he lives in NZ)...The lucky B.............d ;D
Tis often the case where you hear about a friend of a friend's friend who won such and such...And you think well why not me (but I guess one has to be in it to win it !)
So what have you won ? Have you won big time ? Or just the poky little prizes that are normally on offer ?
In a sense I did have a big win of sorts, back in 2005 (along with three other contestants/candidates) I won the local gender reassignment government lottery, so I can't really complain...
Metta Zenda :)
A few years back I won a years supply of Dr. Pepper, that's about it. ;D

So jealous.
Only thing I've ever won was a chocolate bar in a draw at my elementary school library.
Oh, and I won a spelling contest so I got a big bag of goodies. had a hat, computer game...
When I was a kid, I won four teddy bears from the dentist.
Won my school's geography bee every time that I was able to enter it, 4th through 8th grades. Never won at the state level, but always got to the tiebreaker round at least, one year making it to the final 10 round, all the way to 4th place.
Won $14 from the $20 worth of lottery tickets my dad bought me for my 18th birthday.
That's about it.
The most I've ever won is a buck or two on scratch tickets.
Though, I am quite lucky in finding four-leaf clovers. I always picked them, and leave them in books I rent at school, hoping the next student will feel a bit lucky when they thumb through it and find the clovers near finals. I gave one of my old texts to a dear friend, forgetting a bunch of four-leaf clovers were in there; around finals he found them and sent me a text saying "you left some nature in your book".

The only time I won anything ever was a copy of the Relapse Records/Release Entertainment double CD compilation "UHF/VHF" in a Metal Maniacs magazine giveaway.

I won two tickets to see The Police on their Synchronicity tour. That tells you two things: my age and that I haven't won any prizes for a very long time :)
Did you know there are websites that actually collect competitions into one place? My partner has a god at these things every now again and she ends up winning quite a lot of stuff. And some of it we can use! We got a baby stroller (we have no children), a large sheet of Disney stickers, and a case of carbonated honey and lemon drink. The drink was nice :)

That's pretty darn cool!

For some reason, I found lots of four leaf clovers when I was Britain and Ireland, but have never found any in Canada.
Kia Ora,
Many moons ago (in another life) I won "ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS" :icon_birthday: :icon_drunk: on a $1 scratch card I forgot I had, tucked away in a man purse (wallet) and before this we (my ex and I) won $545 on lotto, but we ended up spending over a thousand dollars when going out to spend our winnings 'wisely' (or so we thought) on bunk beds and other household things...
Metta Zenda :)
I've been to a casino once in my life. I was killing time by the harbour in Halifax and decided to try my luck. I walked in, played a $5 hand of blackjack, scored a blackjack, and promptly cashed out. ;D
Always quit while your ahead of the probability curve!
I haven't won any competitions but there is a lady who was a paid carer to visit my wife, I paid her for an hour a week and she would spend three hours that day and come back another, I couldn't afford to pay her any more and she just said phewwie.
She phoned me one day and said she had won $1.5 mill in the lottery and was going to retire.
It was so well deserved I was so happy for her.
She then said not to worry she would still visit my wife but I could now afford an extra person.
I cried.
Some people deserve what they get, and she certainly did, a wonderful woman.
Damn hormones crying again :embarrassed:
I won two individual chooks in the same chook raffle ???
I have won quit a few races in my time, Tris, Run/swims, bike races etc.
Oh and I plan to win the last person who posts thread. ;D
Still trying.

You are just waiting to win a race by breasting the tape
6 pens,a pizza,2 CDs and a Hot Wheels car.The pizza was horrible
Oh you're cheeky Cindy
Actually I was a national level Breastroker.
Made the Olympic trials finals some time ago when younger.
I didn't see it as a big thing back then.
So close yet so far.
Have swum with some of the biggest stars of world swimming and held my own.
Freestyle middle distance I was very good at as well 200 and 400m, I won lots of races.
Could never get the hang of the 100m to my coaches annoyance. I could bring home the second 100 as fast as the first in a 200 yet I couldn't go faster in the 100. ???
I was useless on my back. :D

Reminds me, I did wina pizza once, at a hockey game. Our rather a coupon for a pizza. I was on the losing pair for a ring toss into a pizza box at a hockey game. I promply went to get the pizza with my partner after the game (dad kept referring yo her as "my girlfriend." No dad, we just won a pizza together.) It was actually pretty good.

Might need to practice :embarrassed:
I haven't ever won a raffle or anything that involved some sort of drawing or luck.
But if you're interested in all of the competitions that I've won that involved skill:
-Our team won 2nd place at Odyssey of the Mind's balsa-wood-structure division in 4th grade
-4th place in local Pinewood Derby (5th grade)
-Won school geography bee (6th grade)
-Won class art competition, got a cute stuffed bunny as a prize! (7th grade)
-All-county honors choir (8th grade)
-All-state honors choir (8th grade)
-4th place in state of Florida in Geometry at state math competition (9th grade)
-11th place in state of Florida in Algebra II at state math competition (also 9th grade, a year before I even took the class)
-1st place in Hillsborough county's Math Bowl in Pre-Calculus (11th grade)
-1st place in trebuchet-building competition at Hillsborough County Science Brain Bowl (12th grade)
-Won freshman boat-design engineering competition at Mercer University
-"Most Prepared DJ" award (Muskingum University radio station, WMCO 90.7)
-"Katie Couric Award" (for best news delivery, WMCO 90.7)
-Have won more poker tournaments both live and online than I can even remember.
See, luck? I don't care if I've never won any of your stupid drawings. Who needs you? I make my own luck. :P
Back in 1959, in the Lifeboys, I won a copy of the New Testament. We could either write on, why I would rather be a boy than a girl or, why I would rather be a girl than a boy. I knew the risk, but I let it all out and it was rather a long essay for an eight year old. It's still my proudest possession.

Wait what year was this? Because my senior year (2012) I captained the chemistry team to 3rd place and our trebuchet team wom 2nd in that exact same competition.

But you just won a Belly Rubz! (rubz, rubz, rubz, rubz) See, your luck is changing. *giggles* :-*
I was born into this stupid existence a little over 50 years ago :P Not going to state whether that was good or bad luck

2004. (so nope, no connection.) Fun times, though. I got to be a complete and total nerd and made a floating-arm trebuchet, which probably no one else even knew existed at the time. (Thanks, "Junkyard Wars!" :))

When building models before the contest, I suggested to build a pyramidal trebuchet for inclreased stability, and whaddayaknow, they did it and it worked!
Pretty weird though that we both went to high school in the same county.
But heck, my high school had just opened when you graduated, so you'd probably never heard of it :D
I won an award for excellence in teaching.

I was at Tampa Bay Tech. (Taking a fair guess that you've probably heard of that one. :P) Also went to Middleton for the first two years that it was open.
But yeah... definitely cool!

Yep, was at a few football games there. I was in the band. One of our assistant directors said we were never going back there because the hot dogs were awful :D
I was at Newsome, pretty much one of the only things out in that farm country besides a housing development that half the houses were unoccupied and they were still building.
Oh, just reminds me, I won best John Proctor in our Crucible skits in AP Lang junior year.
My sister has the same teacher this year. She was awesome. And totally supports my transition too :)
Hhhhm lets see
I ve won a mobile phone , a t shirt , a video game and a meal at a restaurant...
little joys that would make me feel better
Let's see...
I've won... *announcer's voice* Absolutely nothing!
I don't count slot machine jackpots because I'm a net loser.
I do, however, consider myself as having won the trans* lottery though.
Kia Ora,
There seems to be a lot of lucky people here....
I know at times some might not feel this way/ agree, but in a sense we have all won life's lottery -the first prize being born 'human' and for the most part having the luxury of freedom ...Things could have been a whole lot worse......

+1
And I'd add to that, by addressing our gender and identity questioning proactively, we've all won an important internal conflict against self-denial.
