I'm a 31 year old transgirl that came out a couple months ago. Problem for me is I live in Alabama (not exactly a trans-friendly place) I've told my girlfriend, mother, and several close friends who have all been supportive (except my best friend who has nothing to do with me anymore). I've also been seeing a therapist for the last two months. I just feel lost so much of the time. I'm hoping to start hrt soon. I've done so much research and read everything I can but it would be nice to be able to have some friends that understand what I'm going through.
A big warm welcome to the family baby sister! You have definitely come to the right family for support and knowledge, we even provide some fun as well. I started my transition at 47 and you can see what it is doing for me. I think you will be just fine yourself, it never is too late. All of us here have felt exactly what you are, that's how we ended up here. This family is so caring, supportive and available that I can't say enough about it. We have strong roots, sturdy branches and a few nuts! Relax, dig in and get ready for a roller coaster of a ride with your transition. Feel free to vent, rant, share the good or just find a shoulder to cry on, we have it all. I look forward to getting to know you better in the future. When you get 15 post's, feel free to PM me anytime you need to for however I can help you or just for girl talk. Here is a BIG HUG ( :icon_hug:) to get you started on your new life's journey! :)

Nice to meet you! ^_^ My name's Maka and I joined some months ago. Susan's is a wonderful place to get tips, learn about interesting stuff, and exchange big hugs when you need them. ^_^
Same goes for me, :) PM me anytime. I'm not as active as some of the other members but I'm always willing to help! Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life! ^_^

Welcome! Alabama is not too bad in Montgomery. Mobile is a little worse, but still not horrible. So you at least have some semi decent places to go. btw, I think it is great you have so many accepting people in your life. Best of luck hun, this is a great community to be a part of.
Well hey Mamma now did you ever go down on
Down on the Mobile Line?

If you're looking for support, you definitely came to the right place!! This forum is literally a life saver. I used to live in Mississippi so I know who unfriendly people can be in that area. Have you considered moving? If you need to talk I'm sure anyone here has an ear for you.
Aww....thank you guys for responding. I haven't been down towards Mobile. I've heard Huntsville and Mobile aren't that bad. I'm in the middle of the state so either way is pretty far :-(. I feel isolated sometimes where I'm at. Have been talking with the girlfriend about moving to Orlando. Anyone know if they're accepting down there? She says they have a strong gay and lesbian culture. Just wondering.
Hi! welcome aboard . a good place to get help or just get some knowledge. I found out today from a post that men and woman have the same number of ribs. I was under some misunderstanding that man had 1 less rib , but I guess that came from my catholic education.
I cannot speak for everyone in Florida, but there are lots of accepting folks and businesses here. Florida is no longer "the south". It is a melting pot with some redneck culture, not all intolerant. Some of my best friends are rednecks that accept folks as they are... as long as they are genuine. I'm a transplanted yankee and I like Central Florida.
Now, welcome to Susan's from a family member and ally.
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!! Although you've done a lot of research, I suspect you're still going to have lots of questions, and this is a great place to get answers from people who have already blazed a path. I'm sorry to hear about losing your best friend. Nevertheless, you've made a very brave decision that yet has many rewards.
welcome ^-^
Welcome. You'll find answers for most questions here.
