So after a few emails back and forth, I'm set up to meet with a doctor at a gender clinic to get started on hormones. It won't be for 5-6 months since they're pretty busy, but I'm super excited. Hopefully it won't take more than 1-2 visits to get a prescription.
congratulations! where is the doctor located?
*big hug*
That's great news, hon. I'm properly stoked for you. In the grand scheme of the rest of your life, a few more months is nothing. You'll get there.

In Vancouver.
Do you have a sense of how often you'll have to travel and whether Alberta will cover everything?
Yeah I've asked them these questions and more. Alberta will cover any costs and the frequency of visits is 3-6 months but they will work with less often if I have a good support doctor in Alberta.
That's awesome! I never knew going to a clinic in another province was an option. I had to go to Edmonton and wait the longest wait of my life lol.
Yeah I was not looking forward to that Caleb. That was the only option that other people from Calgary have ever told me there was, but I figured I would ask the clinic in Vancouver anyways. So far it's looking like it was worth asking.
I was told that the stance of SK is that no service available within the province will be covered by the government.
Well I hope that the clinic doesn't have their information wrong but they told me that I would just need my Alberta health care card and that they would bill back any costs...
I'm pleased to hear it.
Congrats on the big step. :D
Thanks everyone...I'll post updates as they come.
