Title: ~ Estrogen Receptors ~
Post by: Stella Stanhope on January 19, 2014, 07:31:31 PM
~ Ello everyone! ~

Quick Q: Are there any ways or means to find-out or gain more insight into just how susceptible to estrogen your body is, or could be?

I am asking as I had stunted growth as a kid, and am still maturing at 28 years old, my androgyny is ceasing to be. I wonder if I have no receptors, as despite the very protracted male puberty, I didn't develop any breasts or feminine fat deposits. According to doctors, my testosterone has always been "normal" for my age since about 18.

I took a standard finasteride dose daily for 6 months last year to control the onset of MPB. I did not develop any breast tenderness etc. I got very mild sexual side effects, and (hilariously) my bladder appears to have shrunk, but apart from that no feminisation. Which all leads back to the Quick Question. :-)

Any way of speculating or gaining more insight into how your body may respond to MTF HRT before or during the endocrinologist's tests?

Thanks! ~

Wish I knew, all I've read is the number of receptors is limited in AMAB girls and has a genetic component. But haven't seen the hard science on it nor any reports of increasing estrogen receptor sensitivity. Hopefully your thread will turn up any new science on same.

Nope. Even the endo won't tell you your reactions to estrogen, they'll just be able to measure it once you've got the HRT regimen underway.
