Title: James Bellringer leaving CX
Post by: Keroppi on January 29, 2014, 06:56:29 AM
QuoteMr Bellringer has resigned from Charing Cross Hospital (Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust). The reasons for this are complex, but relate to differences in how he and the Trust saw Gender Surgery being delivered over the next few years. He finishes there at Easter 2014. He is in discussion with Parkside Hospital to set up a new service there, which should be viable from late April. There will inevitably be some disruption, but he hopes that the majority of patients will get surgery at about the same time as they were scheduled to under Charing Cross. He understands that Phil Thomas will continue to work one day per week at Charing Cross, which will clearly help with the capacity issues. Currently, nothing has been agreed regarding future surgery provision, but it is anticipated that NHS England will move work appropriately to minimise any delays to patients. When any more news is available it will be published here.

Can't you ring the admissions department at CX? I had my surgery with bellringer last year but provisional surgery with phil thomas last year too  :)   I wonder what the complex reasons are for him resigning?

I hope it all works out well for the male-female trans having vaginoplasty  :)   It just seems crazy that he's not performing anymore at Charing Cross. Luckily i've already had surgery but its the others that are concerned about it. I'm sure there will be a lot phone calls received in the upcoming months lol

Good luck anyways  :)

Are there any more updates on this? I too am waiting for my surgery date and have hounded the admissions team, they gave me a date of June 16th just before Christmas then when I called up a few weeks ago to ask why I had not had a confirmation letter I was told the date had been cancelled, clearly this is why. Is there any more info on this yet?

On his website, it says that it will be updated with more info about this crazy situation.  Just keep checking his website for updates regarding all of this.

Hope this helps you and others a little  :)

Does this mean he will still be carrying out NHS referrals at Parkside Hospital, as this is a private hospital?  ???

That's what the statement is suggesting. Whether it will actually happen remains to be seen.

As far as I understand Phil Thomas similiarly practice (PT) at Brighton Hospital privately, with the service contracted by NHS Scotland.

I suppose that would be better then, any hospital is better than Charing Cross especially a private one!
