Title: My next step or Half step Contacting a therapist
Post by: Nora Kayte on February 02, 2014, 01:50:27 PM
OK so all last week after my research I decided on a therapist. I spent all last week reading her page and just starring at it. Trying to get myself to to make the phone call. So last night I at least filled out the contact form on her page and starred at it for 20 minutes before I actually pressed send. I am so anxious right now. But no going back now. Lol. Actually can't wait. Now the next step is to seek out some friends. There is a local transsexual group that looks real friendly. Just need to find the courage to go and tell my wife I'm going.

You can do it baby! We have mostly all been where you are at now. It is just something you have to do, it does get easier. Just be honest with the therapist and those you love and you could be surprised by the reactions you get. Some will not be good, but I had people totally surprise me with acceptance. I wish you the best on the start of a very long journey. Do not go into this thinking things will move fast though it is a process. Keep us posted on your progress please. :)

I will keep you all informed. I plan to be here a lot. And will be posting tons more. I love my family here already. And hope that my journey and questions will help others as well as myself.

Keep in mind you are a consumer and after 2 sessions you need to ask if this Gender therapist is right for you. If not go to the next Therapist.

I have been reading your posts and it sounds like you have an understanding wife and you have a good idea what you want.

Hugs

I told my therapist I used to be a boy (I present as a girl) and she was awesome about it! I was the  first trans anything person she met but she was just so sweet. You should make the call, therapists are awesome!!

Thank you for the kind words. She sure seems understanding and I did see her reading our forum. I am still afraid if the convoy where I sit her down and tell her I am as much of a woman as she it and I need to pursue it as much as possible.

Hun

I came out not too long ago, and the first thing I did was find a gender specialist therapist. She was the first person that I came out to and it was such a release to finally say it out loud.  I'm proud of you hun for taking that step, the first is always the hardest. You are also finding a support group which is terrific !!! We are all with you sis  :)
