the past few months ive been noticing that my face is getring wrinkled. like. light crows feet on the eyes and that weird thing where your cheekbones develop deep lines that start at the inner eye and follow down over the cheek. but only in good light.
im 24 and i look about average for my age as far as my age appearance. but then if you actually look i might be 35 and just look really young. its weird.
my face is a cross between going into middle age and going into adulthood.
i even didnt get carded for cigarettes the other day. unusual for me. thats gotta be the first time. not sure.
but i almost didnt get carded for booze the other day. it was just a technicality. i wouldnt have if it werent an 'if i dont card this guy i get fired' situation.
its just weird.
anyone relate to this
wait until you get to be 30 it's weird
A lot of it is genetics, a lot of it is your diet. I don't mean to tell you your business but you may want to quit smoking - they are horrible for you and your skin.
Also try some face yoga - I've been doing some myself. To early to say if it actually works or not.
I experience the opposite almost every day. I'm almost 21, but people that don't know me usually think I'm about 15-17. In some cases it's good, like when I ride the train, nobody believes that I'm over 20, so I usually go by a childrens-ticket. I also get in to a lot of places as a minor and usually nobody checks my ID. But if I am trying to buy energy-drinks, or if I buy a lottery-ticket to someone, people often suspect that I'm using a fake-ID and this has resulted in the manager calling me to his office and security calling my parents etc. If I'm not wearing my ID I'm in trouble.
So there are pros, and cons with looking younger/older than your age.
Most people tell me that I don't look my age at all (36). I'm not a fanatic about eating a healthy diet but I do try to eat healthier than I did in the past (Not having a massive pan of nachos 3 times in a month or a massive pan of lasagna twice in a month helped. :D). I try to keep fruits in my diet at a pretty consistent level. Nuts are good too (I would be super pissed if I developed a nut allergy.) One thing I think that helps is the fact that I don't smoke, and I drink a lot of water. It accounts for about 70% of my liquid diet. I almost never drink soda either. Maybe a rare can or 20 oz bottle a few times a year and that's it. Plus, that has helped with weight loss (although I still have a way to go with that.)

Big thing that stands out; smoking. Can really prematurely age you. Terrible health effects when combined with HRT. Other than that use sunscreen liberally, moisturize and hydrate. Microderms are great, but can get pricey.
Working out will also help you with your overall apperance. It will be good for you in many ways, you will feel stronger, slimmer and you will look younger too!
I'm 25 but am told I look 20 or so. When I buy alcohol or go to a bar (I only ever go if I am playing a gig in one) I usually not only get carded, I also get grilled on the information on my ID.
Hilariously enough, back when I was 21 I went to a restaurant and ordered my first alcoholic drink - and didn't get carded despite being very young looking.
I was really slow to develop. Didn't stop growing until I was 21 or so, with 3 or 4 inches being after turning 18.
I used to smoke, but only for a short while before I stopped. I also lost like 100 pounds around when I was 20, so I've beeneating healthier since then.
My growth was really weird too.
I was about 155cm at 10, and I hit 184cm at 14. Then I didn't grow a centimeter from 14-19. And last year I grew 4 more centimeters and I believe that I'm done now. 6'2" or 188cm is tall enough for me.
I'm 24 (well, 25 in a few days :() and I really understand how you feel. It sucks to grow up. When I buy alcohol or go to a bra (on that rare event) I usually still get asked for ID, but it feels more like a formality. Yeah, I still look like I'm in my twenties and do have my youth, but I know it can't last forever. At this point in time with my transition and all, I'm very sensitive about my age and overall appearance. You don't even want to know the amount of skin products I use to prevent getting wrinkles or any skin aging. It freaks me out in a big way as I overanalyze any "flaws" with my body. So, I really feel you. This is easily going to be my worst birthday ever. I guess we all have to grow up sometime. :(
Gee, I wish I could get carded once in a while.
sigh
I turn 30 tomorrow, and its fricking depressing :'(. I still look younger tho cept for some gray hairs..

Oooooooo, yes. The mid-twenties tend to separate those who are lucky with genetics and those who aren't, or so it seems... All the people I know who looked great at 25 still look great, and those that suddenly aged around 25 now look much older. From what I can gather from medical science, its due to the beginning of the somatopause, which is when the body stops producing shed-loads of Human Growth Hormone to effectively fund puberty. With puberty finished, mother nature starts the long process of dismantling the human body (otherwise if we continued having high HGH levels through adulthood, then I guess we'd live for centuries perhaps). Anywho, its easier for the body to look and feel young when there's plenty of HGH to replace every faulty or brocken cell quickly. When the HGH levels drop, you become more at the mercy of how efficient your body is based on your genetics, rather than the "cheat" of having the youth boost. Of course, this is why there's this issue that its important to start HRT prior to 25, and that's because of the HGH (as well as things like bones hardening into their relative final shapes and sized). Its a fascinating topic, I know bugger all about it :p But I do remember the general gist from my research.
Anywho, my body caught up after having stunted growth, and I developed those typical male pattern facial lines beside the cheeks, very suddenly. I'm not sure that men actually age faster, I think its more that mother nature thinks its beneficial for men to look rugged, rough and older than their years. So mother nature likes to ensure stuff like MPB and lines and wrinkles and grey beard shadow do happen, so when you need to fight that chimp in the jungle to defend your mate and offspring you can look as menacing as is possible. Women follow a more neotenous model of development through adulthood, with nature more focused on ensuring women look as youthful as possible in order to denote lush fertility and child-bearing energy. So its in mankind's interest that men look haggard & lumbering and women look soft & lithe, really. There's pros and cons to being both sexes biologically, but as we increasingly live in a sophisticated world of technology and imagery - a haggard-looking lumbering male is increasingly getting the raw end of the deal, I reckon. Though billions of men would definitely disagree with me.
But hey! Unfortunately mankind is sentient. And many biological males like myself can't help but think "hey! we got a ->-bleeped-<- deal out of being this sex" :) And of course for those of us who also don not feel like male in the first place, we thus find ourselves on this site. :)
Anywho, faces are mess of features some of which look old, some of which look younger. I have the body of a late teenager and the hairline, hair and face of a 40-year old.
So, I guess, you gotta count your blessings right? I'm sure you don't look as old as you think! :)

It's not so bad, I am 30 people think I am 24-26 range and really I don't feel a day over 15 hehe.
"You are only as old as you feel!"
I'm 50 but look somewhat younger. And I don't know how because I've smoked the better part of my life. I've never been a heavy smoker though, mostly less than a pack per day. Now I smoke real cigarettes even less since I've been converting over to, or quitting for electronic cigarettes. They are alot cheaper and less harmful. My only give away are a few gray hairs here and there. ;)

Oh, don't let it get you down. Turning 30 doesn't mean a damn thing. I remember when I was turning 30, everyone made such a big deal about it. I was like "who the hell cares?". I had more important things to concern myself with, like getting on HRT. I was so wrapped up in kicking off my transition, that year was a blur anyway.
The only reason 30 is made out to be such a big deal is because it's some stupid arbitrary thing that society came up with. Whenever I hear people complain about getting older I would always ask them this question: "which would you prefer: aging or an early death?". Those are the only options you have. I would much prefer aging to an early death. Besides, even though my chronological age may be increasing. I feel younger now than I did when I WAS 30.
It's all about how you feel at the end of the day.
You need to turn vegan to look and remain younger.

At 30, I havent really aged. People tell me I am younger than my age. Drinking water and not smoking helps a lot.

Yeah, those two factors are huge. I'm in the same boat.

The irony in this for me was, turning 30 got me thinking what I was doing with my life, that led me to stop be delusional about being transgender.
