Hello all! I've been lurking for quite a bit around here and figured I may as well participate...
These boards are friggin' amazing and sometimes overwhelming in the amount of information all you lovely people put out!
Few things about me... my name's Tara, 27 year old semi-closeted mtf. I'm a hopefully soon to be a 2x college graduate in 3d art. About my past :icon_blahblah:... I had a pretty rough start. Grew up in a pretty bad area and became a product of the environment. I developed a serious substance abuse problem caused by social expectations, gender issues, and horrible decisions. Got away from it all after a low point, cleaned myself up, got into college, and started to confront myself. I started coming out to people individually over the last year and was given the opportunity to shed a LOT of negativity out of my life. Although I still present myself as male, I've set a list of goals to change that and live authentically by the end of the year or sooner (just had my first laser appt yesterday ;D).
Anyways, just wanted to say hey to you all! I hope I can add to this already awesome community and look forwards to making new friends, learning some stuff along the way. :)

Welcome to Susan's. As you've noticed, there is a lot of info here. I'm glad you fund us.
Hi Tara,
A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.
There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.
I'm glad you were able to break the bad habits from the past. And for what you've done to improve yourself, proves you have the tenacity to do this. I wish you well in your current journey.
Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
A big warm welcome to the family baby! I am so proud of what you have done so far in your story. Not everyone has the drive or conviction to overcome such huge hurdles! Feel free to vent, rant, share good news or just find a shoulder to cry on if you need it. Here is a BIG HUG ( :icon_hug:) to start your new successful life off right! :) Remember, help is only a key stroke away now.
Thanks for the warm welcome :)

It seems to me that anybody who can clean up from substance abuse has a strong enough will to confront gender dysphoria. Many of us did things we are not so proud about as we struggled with the dysphoria demon.
