Title: Spaghetti Westerns
Post by: Cindy on February 10, 2014, 07:14:24 AM
Just watched 'Fist Full of Dollars' after many years

So many funny lines

What are your favourite scenes in these art forms (?)

'If you are going to shoot; shoot. If you are going to talk; talk'

Classic

What stood out to me mostly was Ennio Morricone's music.

OMG, I get to see him conduct next month!  So excited.  I have this great CD called We All Love Ennio Morricone with various artists ranging from Yo Yo Ma to Metallica.

Agreed. That's really the only reason I ever sat through watching "Once Upon a Time in the West"

Controlled perhaps isn't the right word, but, perhaps, emotionally drives is correct. Take for example the film "Yojimbo"... It was remade by Leone as what the western world knows as "A fistful of dollars", but, I've seen the original japanese film, without subtitles, and understood not a word of it. But the music drove it so much I was totally engrossed the whole time. I need to watch it again with subtitles one day.

I've watched For a Fistull of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West and For a Fistfull of Dynamite, all from Sergio Leone and with music from Ennio Morricone.

I find For a Fistfull of Dynamite a great movie. Underestimate, but good. The discussion about what really is the revolution and who pays the price is worth the entire movie. And the music...wow

I'm wondering how the spaghetti wears a ten gallon hat and rides a horse.

Oooh, next time I have a Spaghetti Western marathon, I'll have to serve the spaghetti in hats!  Nice idea there...

With meatballs or carbonara?  (I can just feel mah butt getting bigger!)
