I planning to go full time this summer because I think or hope the hormones will have worked enough, I'm planning on blouses and skirts mostly and jeans. I going for the slightly conservative look. Just interested how every one else approaches style.
I really like the jeans /shirts combo thats what im doing now but also have jackets cause its still a little cold...
but on summer if my body is ok I would also like to wear cute dresses /skirts and stuff...
I'm a jeans and nice top kind of girl....sometimes a basic T ....they have one called my favorite T from Old Navy, it as about 10 small buttons that come down to form a V. I like only V necks and scoop necks...though this winter I have worn my turtle necks quite often.....they look really good with a scarf or a chunky necklace!! Oh and I love there skinny jeans called Rock Star

those are nice
I try to dress my age/lifestyle. So I stick to mostly printed t's and jeans, I wear skirts and long dress's occasionally. Skirts, a dress top and shawl sometimes with flats when trying to look professional.
I wear cute open necked form-fitting tops with skinny jeans. Some have holes; some don't. My fave pair of skinnies is a light purple denim with knee holes. They are more capri than skinny jean but I'd call them a hybrid. I wear keds and ballet flats plus carry a duffle. (A large canvas purse).
Lately i've been accessorizing and building my wardrobe more. I have this gray faded romper that I just got the last thing I need for: a cute, lightweight leather jacket. I also got this LBD with a cute print and a plunging neckline that I hope to rock. I can't wait for warmer weather. I have this men's pea coat and I get sir'd a lot and then I look at them and they profusely apologize. AWKWARD. I'm conviced it's the coat and my guy wants to buy me a new one. he says it's def the reason.
I try to dress my age but I don't want to look a mess, so it's cardigans and full, pleated or A line knee length skirts, sometimes tailored jackets, but definitely conservative stuff.
I bought some skinny jeans last weekend, but I'm not sure I have the courage to wear them out :D
Stephanie, it occurred to me that if you went back over these very interesting threads that you put up and and statistically analyzed each member's responses to your questions you'd probably have enough material for a couple of solid research papers on attitudes and preferences of transgendered individuals :D
I dress very boring and very bland. It's cheaper that way. Plain tops in darker, solid colors (except for the shirts with Dotty and Portia on them), jeans, sneakers.
I'm a 6'1" girl. Where on this planet would I actually blend in?
I try to dress in such a way that I own the look. The look is me. That can be jeans and a sweater, it can be woman's business attire or even a formal dress. But owning the look is the key.
Really takes time to shop though....
Hugs,
Jen

Love this question! At this point it's to burn "the guy" down.
Danielle is pissed. "The guy" stuck her in a dark closet for thirty years and basically ruined her life .. and she's coming out with a vengeance! It's been about two months since she's gotten out of the closet and she's put the world on notice. Within a time-span of only two months I've come out to my family, lost 35 lbs, grew my hair passed the tops of my ears (blown out girlie-style everyday  ), women's underwear, stockings, mascara and pink lipstick everyday. Danielle has nearly completely killed "the guy". I say nearly because I think she's planning just a little torturer for "the guy" (Thailand-style) just before she buries him.
I have a very small wardrobe. As of right now I mixed both my guy clothes and my girl clothes. Granted the guy close I have could be considered androgynous. I am really looking forward to summer. At work I plan on wearing mostly Capri pants. Outside of work I hope I can wear short leggings and a skirt and some kind of cute shirt. :-) anything that's nice, that covers my knees. Ha ha
I'm a wee bit too old to go for setting things on fire, although my inner teenager still relishes the very short skirt that's packed away somewhere
I go for what I like to think of as classy casual - the kinds of clothes that a woman my age with a youthful attitude might wear. I can get away with wearing skinny jeans, and I pair that with some kind of nice top or sweater, and heels or wedges, or boots if the weather is yucky. Some days I might put on some earrings but most days I don't bother. I don't want to stand out, but if someone notices me I want to be dressed tastefully. I prefer 1/2 or 3/4 length sleeves to help disguise my shoulders.
I wore a above the knee skirt out once and it gave me the willies for some reason. I haven't had the courage to try that again.
Dresses are usually a no go because of my upper body build. If I get them large enough to fit up top they are too big on the bottom.
Until I don't have a tucking issue any longer, I dress age-appropriately and rather modestly. I likely won't become racier after surgery - just wear nicer and more form-fitting attire.
I do dream of a nice one-piece beach/swimming suit though. And the goods to deliver in them ;)

What do you mean?
For me, once I started going out in public, I basically purged my entire wardrobe of collected crap and set about building something to be proud of. Some of the stuff I had was just plain stupid. I don't dress to stand out, but I do try to follow fashion trends. Right now every girl I see us wearing black leggings, tunic tops and boots. It's like the uniform or something. So I wear those kinds if clothes. I stick with jeans though. I mostly stick with Anthropology, Free People, Lucky and a lot if that boho chic type stuff. But that's what the girls I admire are wearing. I guess that means I'm trying to blend in for where I am. I would never wear a mini leather skirt with a halter and 6 inch heals. But hey, whatever works for you.
So I guess I just try to blend in with what I consider to be the contemporary fashionable girls my age.
Tiffany I was just saying lately I have noticed blending in with these wealthy people means dressing like them which is normally county club attire
Whatever I wear, I become noticeable. Based on my height and body shape alone, all of my acquaintances recognize me very well while I run outdoors wearing sunglasses, hat and mask. Even one of my former colleagues, who happened to be at Frankfurt airport, recognized and called me from the back. There were so many tall girls and all kinds of ethnic groups and body shapes in the airport. We did not know or expect that each other is traveling abroad.
I prefer juniors' style, although my biological age is far greater.
The following skirt is my favorite fashion item, and I am wearing it right now, although it's winter.

Blend. My one hope was to get through the awkward visible stage of transition as fast as possible and go back to fading into the crowd. :)
I dress in what makes me look good.
I'm tall, thin, and have great legs, so I show them off when I can. (Distraction from a distinctly plain face?) Short skirts in the summer, skinny jeans when it's cold.
It takes away from the blending thing, but hey, I could have blended in as a guy. If I'm going to celebrate my girlhood, I'd rather the world celebrate with me.

Great minds think alike. The whole black leggings, tunics and knee high boots (sometimes Docs) does seem like a uniform. I wonder if there was a meeting I wasn't invited too--again. Almost every girl I see is wearing that these days. I just stick with skinnny jeans and mainly long-sleeved striped tops right now. I lovelovelove stripes. I was reading Lucky at the supermarket counter one day with my, uh, whatever and Gennifer Goodwin basically stole mt style, or I stole hers. Or we both stole jean Seaberg's, which I did. Jean Seaberg is like my fashion idol. If you have never seen Breathless, see it.
She's so cute. I'm more into guys but I'd go out with her. She made her name in saint Joan, so, if you have ever seen that movie The Legend Of Billie Jean they kind of channel Jean Seaberg in that movie. The other day at a family dinner I said "Fair is fair," which is the movie's tagline and my sister in law was like "Oh no, you're gonna cut your hair super short and dye it platinum blonde and start wearing light blue rompers aren't you?" lol cause helen Slater went all modern day Joan of Arc in it. Now that she said it...
I dress in a way that is appropriate to my age ~ I don't wear anything flashy or stand-outish unless im going to a club or a bar (in my city, everyone dresses as flashy as they can for the nightlife, so most of the time i can't compete xD) but most days I wear something casual or cute, I do shop at trendy stores though. I'm lucky enough that my wife knows exactly what looks good on me while at the same time helps me choose clothes that are right for my age. Normally though, i dress to blend in with Jeans and a printed t, or a tank top or blouse in short shorts and boots. I absolutely LOVE boots and short shorts. Sun-dresses are also my favorite, if I could wear sun-dresses all the time, i would ~ especially the ones that have tails and are higher up in the front.
Another favorite type of outfit of mine that is both fashionable and blendable is this one or variations of this:

its essentially just jeggings with combat boots, a tanktop or cami (or both) and a sleeveless cardigan :3
I dress to blend in mostly.. I do dress my age (24). I think I do dress like a 24 year old woman. Being young I can dress to set things on fire.
My best feature my legs are shown off when I can.. I love wearing mini skirts or dresses that are shorter.
I dress to kill! I wear whatever I feel like. I work in a large engineering office with about 40 other women. But I love fashion and shoes. But I don't let my trans status dictate what I wear. I'm tallish and I still wear heels. I flaunt my height and long legs. I wear anything from skinny jeans with tall ankle boots and a leather jacket to dresses with blazers to skirts with nice blouses. I have been told more than once by more than one person that I have the best style in the office. :)

My cis sister is also maybe half an inch shorter than me, haha.

I'm nearly 6'2" and in Miami all the girls are 5'3" or less. But i blend in just fine lol, I even wear heels sometimes. I mean, i get stares but its usually because of how tall I am. And sometimes i even get lucky in go into places where a couple of girls are either my exact height or taller :D
If you ever feel like you're too tall, just do what I do and think "i'm supermodel tall ;)"

Yes. I also sometimes to follow fashion trends. But, in this winter, my fungal infection on my buttocks recurred as I frequently wore skinny jeans and leggings with boot. Now I changed to the juniors' summer skirt for ventilation. I just wear thong to expose my buttocks to air.
barbie~~
I dress my age (25). I wouldn't say I follow trends, but I wear fashion forward clothes. I think I'm pretty stylish. I tend to wear lots of black.
ahhh I'm still piecing my wardrobe together. Currently its just my favorite tanks and shirts with my skinnies
I'm wearing boot cut black pants for work and comfort,I have a dressing over a burned leg and don't want tight jeans rubbing it off.I usually wear a black cardigan and scoop or V necked tops underneath.I can't blend in at 6'1 and a half and 250 lb,it's so cold here I always wear a long overcoat and gloves.
When I go full time I'm just doing skirts and jeans, but I really like to get a dress that will destroy, just for the fun of it. Go out to the movies. the theater I go to has a bar lounge attached to the theater . It would be a great place to check out the reaction.
Like others have said, I usually dress how I feel. It can range from a flannel shirt and leggings, to a tight shirt with a waist belt, jean short shorts and even stockings with all that. It won't change once I start going full time. Can't wait to see what reactions I'll get lol
I'm 32 and most of my girlfriends who are helping me with clothes and style are early to mid 20's. I'd say between 23-26 so I'll end up in leggings, tops, boots, etc.
I don't mind color but at the same time I don't want to be too flashy. I feel that's a really good way to get clocked is by overcompensating in style and/or make-up.

Blend in, mostly. Work week is dress pants and pencil skirts. Today I was a color BOMB, but I felt good. I don't think I have to dress up as much as I do, but, I'm comfortable. Maybe I stand out a bit but, I'm comfortable and hopefully going places in my career. Oh yeah, I have a pink pea coat. I stand out given how much black and gray I see.
Weekends I dress down. Skinny jeans and regular jeans. Nice sweaters during the winter. Have a fleet of those. As for warmer months, I've plum forgotten what I wear during my downtimes then.
I prefer skirts and dresses but I do wear jeans and 3/4 pants at times if the weather is cooler.
I just wear whatever feels comfortable. I will wear anything from t shirts to blouses to jeans to skirts to tank tops to hoodies depending on my mood and the weather. I occasionally will wear summer dresses on outings or formal dresses on special occasions, but I generally dress pretty casually, and sometimes even tomboyish (though NEVER in clothes made specifically for boys! Eww!)
Have to say, though, when I started transitioning I went all out dressing really hyper femme all the time but that was because I was given false information about what it means to be trans (mainly because my lousy therapist at the time was getting her info from the dreaded CAMH) until I moved to Toronto and met other transpeople and realized that I can be trans and be myself, rather than having to play up to rigid stereotypes of femininity. Good thing, cuz hyper femme me felt just as forced as "boy" me did. I'm much happier just being me. :)
Apparently the way I dress caused the fans to get up and get out of town...

^Can I sit next to you then?
I don't dress to shock, by any means, but I also don't dress to blend in as everyone here just wears jeans and Ts, which really don't do me any favours. I dress to suit my body shape and match my colouring. So, mostly pleated or A-line skirts and dresses, in warm shades of purple, yellow, brown, green and red. I like tone on tone looks mostly, but don't mind being bold with tights, shoes and accessories.

My girlfriend...who is the official scorekeeper for the game. I believe that game ended up 82-33. Railroading the visiting team like that is bad karma.
I try to blend and not go overly feminine in dress. The other night and friend and took another friend who is questioning her sexuality to a lesbian bar that also had dancing. (How I love to dance since I've been on HRT.) I kept it simple with tight jeans and a feminine top, very little makeup. (I don't get a 5 o'clock shadow anymore :) ) I had no trouble blending in and was accepted without any issues and I'm 6'7', the tallest person there. I was having a great time dancing and chatting. I was just one of the girls. There was another trans woman there who over did it with the tight skirt, heels trying to set things I fire, but it just didn't work for her. Her makeup was OK, but a little bit too much compared to everyone else. She was about 6'2" and she stood out way more than me and didn't seem like she was having a good time. Dress is important, but I find attitude the biggest thing that sets things on fire. I know I look a lot more feminine when I'm smiling that when I'm sad.
I dress mostly conservative casual most of the time to blend in. Although I actually end up dressing better than many other women my age where I live.

Probably the article tends to generalize, but in overall, his observation seems to be right.
For me, I always wondered why Japanese women wear so poorly. They are art-loving people, but regarding women's fashion, they seem to be clueless. I have never been in Paris, but my colleagues said that that place is a must-go to look around and lean women's fashion.

I dress basic with a little bit of a preppy look to it.
I dress in whatever way I feel like that day. Simple, elegant, cute, sexy, scandalous, tough, girlie, athletic, business, party, trashy, fun, what-the-eff-ever. I have many moods and my fashion is the way that I express that to the world. Having a 'style' is kinda boring imo tbh.
