I'm considering having rhinoplasty done. I prefer to go to an ffs surgeon, but I'm in Europe and I'm not sure which surgeon to go to. The only ffs surgeons in Europe that I've heard of are dr. Bart in Belgium and dr. Bui in France. I'm not so sure about dr. Bart and I don't know if dr. Bui speaks english. I should be able to find that out though.
Anyway, I think I'd feel more comfortable to go to an ffs surgeon, but I wonder if it's really necessary? What do you think?
Rhinoplasty is a very common procedure; however, an FFS surgeon may better understand your desires for a feminine outcome.
I think you're safe to go to a plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty if you require no forehead work.
The reason I say this is because if you require forehead work, or rather if you have a heavy brow or brow bossing of significance, if you add a feminine contour of a nose along the bridge you create a very large divet between your eyes and your forehead.
If it is just work on the tip, nostrils, septum, etc. I'd say you're good to go.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if you go to an FFS surgeon and require any forehead/brow work they will honestly tell you. And not likely to be gimmicky or sell, but the result wouldn't be what you'd want. They don't want the bad press of a bad result neither! :X
Much love to you! <3
Hello Yasmine,
Dr. Bart is really great. I saw him three weeks ago for a consult and a tracheal shave. At that time, he said that there is no real issue with having your nose done separately and then reassessing the rest of your face, though it would be optimal to do the forehead and nose together. The price he quoted me for the nose alone was a bit steep (around 6000 euros), though the price does drop if you combine other procedures.
Yasmine, you're making me blush (wait it's impossible for me to blush, I am too trashy!)
I kid, I kid! It really means a lot to me.
I went ahead and whipped up a visual representation of what I was trying to explain earlier. Because seeings things is kind of easier, methinks!
Anywho, if a feminine nose is desired and the brow / forehead is prominent, you get something like this after rhinoplasty if you did not get but need brow / forehead work:

That is why some surgeons will press for rhinoplasty and brow / forehead work to be done at the same time. It all flows down from the top of the head down the tip of the nose.
I personally know a plastic surgeon who knows all the local FFS docs and has had plenty of MTF patients himself. I had him check me out and asked about the usual FFS procedures. It turns out that I don't have much in the way of a brow ridge nor an adam's apple. In fact my wife has more in those departments than I do. He didn't want to do anything radical to my face at all until the full effects of HRT and the orchi had manifested themselves, so I'd need to wait another year or so before he'd even want to go there. In the meantime, I'm having a few minor things that I'd need done anyway even if I was just a dude trying to look better and younger.

Thanks and yeah it makes a lot of sense. I'll go to an FFS surgeon. I don't think my brow or forehead is very prominent, but I'm not an FFS surgeon :)
