Title: Support groups in Indianapolis?
Post by: Jill E on February 23, 2014, 12:04:51 AM
Hello all. I'm hoping to find a transgender support group in Indianapolis. I did come across a previous post from 2009 about a group called Indygirlz/boyz. Does anyone know if this group is still around? Their website seems to be under construction, so I'm uncertain whether it's an abandoned domain or if it's actually under construction..

Are there any other Indianapolis groups out there?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

Jill

I was wondering about IndyGirlz too... But, if you venture up I-65 a bit there's Trans*Lafayette. They meet every other Sunday. I've never been, yet. This Sunday will be the first time I'm able to go. But, there's at least one other girl on here who attends. If she stumbles across this she may be able to add more relevant info.

Thank you so much, Missadventure! I just read up on the group, on Pride Lafayette''s website. How was it? Did you like it?

I'm thinking about checking it out. I have family up there, so I could probably make a day of it.

It was good. The topic being discussed today wasn't terribly interesting to me. But, it was nice being around people who can relate to this particular aspect of me. I mean. My friends are great, and have been wonderfully supportive, but there's particular aspects of transition that they have no idea how to even begin understanding. So, it was nice to meet people who've been there, done that. It was a small group, but they all seem to have great senses of humor. And, well, it was fun. I'm looking forward to the next meeting.
