Oh my god! Yesterday and today I've eaten so much goddamn cheese! I've been on estrogen for about a month, minus a week's break. I didn't eat cheese at all for a few years, and now suddenly, I decided cheese was cheap and rich in protein.
Am I fitting myself into a stereotype, even if it's subconsciously, or is there really something to this?
Cheese is amazeballs. I used to like it, now I love it. I think my taste buds work better now and cheeses are just kaleidoscopic, naval-gazing umami bombs. I also really like melted cheeses.
Oh, and you must try blue cheese and walnuts in a salad together. Yummers. I call it the Charlie Sheen salad because blue cheese and walnuts go together like coke and hookers. (Or so I've been told...)
I want everything Cheesealicious now! Shredded, melted, sliced you name it! Oh, and a really weird craving for Chocolate Peanut Butter also. I am like Jill, taste buds and sense of smell are really kicking now. ;D
We love the cheese, always have 8) I mostly use a few basic types but like to try something unique from time to time and the grocery store almost always have some on sale and tasty samples to snack :) I've rarely met a cheese I did not like
I love cheese, there's all sorts I've never tried yet.I rarely go a day without eating it
Snack time! You are all completely evil for triggering my cheese fiend mode.
Taleggio, Red Dragon, Sonoma Jack and Fontina- get in mah belly.

Notice I did say rarely... LOL, when I say basic types of cheese I mean shredded Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Provolone, Gouda, Muenster etc. And let's not forget about the cream cheese to make cheesecake :)
I think it would be fun to learn how to make my own cheeses, I already know how to make my own Ricotta 8) But usually I just pick some up at the store ;)
Interesting fact: a lover of cheese is known as a Turophile.
Another fun fact is that there is a band called Turophile (http://turophile.bandcamp.com/)

Yes, I'm not into products that are best described as "pasteurized, processed cheese food".

You can blame James L Kraft for that.
Cheese is meh on its own. But I had a most marvellous grilled ham and cheese with mozzarella for lunch yesterday.

WHAT?!!!*Assaults you with a frozen block of Velveeta*
Totally going to agree. My sense of taste has gone completely nuts since starting HRT. I feel like I'm noticing a lot of the little subtleties in foods that I wasn't before.
I'm thoroughly convinced that smoked gouda is the nectar of the gods, and I also just about had a foodgasm when trying raw cheese curds for the first time. Trying some Ohio Amish farmers' cheese was also a true taste delight!
Dark chocolate has also exploded exponentially in terms of just how amazing it tastes, but I definitely know that we've already had topics about that before.

GAHHHH!!! *drools*
I've never smoked gouda before- do you use a pipe or rolling papers?
Tried smoked Gouda on black bread or pumpernickel, with Black Forest ham, and a little spicy brown mustard. Oh! and have a German rauchbier while you are at it.
How's about dark chocolate, cheese and bacon croissants? Yes, now we're gettin' kinky

*Drools* I like making grilled gruyere sandwiches with split bratwurst, grilled onion and Lowensenf mustard on pumpernickel with Spaten Oktoberfest in the fall.

So, you are beaten with blocks of cheese on a regular basis?

Rather whipped with bacon and pelted by potatoes, respectively.

I am so walking to the cheesemonger shop for lunch tomorrow. Only a 3 mile round trip! Plus I can stop at Trader Joe's for DARK CHOCOLATE on the way. >:-)
A nice strong Stilton covering smoked salmon. DROOL
FWIW, cubed cheeses of differing varieties dipped in dark unsweetened chocolate is heaven. Better than Valentine candy mixes.

Cheese and chocolate should never be mixed. I can't do the sweet and salty mix.

If I want to mix chocolate and dairy, it's be anything but cheese. Milk, yoghurt, that's all fine. But not cheese.
Oh the unexpected things to look forward to. I already do a lot of damage to cheese and it will be a while until HRT. So I need to expect to eat even more cheese.
Blue cheese was love at first bite - many, many years ago.
A local place considers bacon an herb and adds it to everything. Up to and including bacon chocolate cake and bacon cheesecake. Cherry cheesecake sits better with me!
One last time...

Cheese is low carb and delicious! What's not to like? It's pretty much the only way I get any form of calcium besides vitamins.
Just added Stilton to my shopping list...
Livin' la vida con queso!
Burrata with a balsamic drizzle is the bomb diggity.
Cheese is one of those things that really should be organic or grass fed.

But make sure that the Gouda is grazing in the backyard so they don't start humping each other.

White Stilton is a bit milder and works great in a soup.
Chocolate-covered, bacon-flavored, Cheetos.
Just tossing that one out for discussion.

Excuse me while I go use the bathroom. I feel my dinner wanting to liberate itself from my stomach.

anything... there's a thought. Although whip up some of those cheese scones we talked about. Mmmmm.

Possibly, but remember, although you may not care much about the cheese, the cheese will always care about you
May cheeses be with you all. Good night.

I like cheese.
This thread is making me hungry.
The number one source of all my salt and fat.
I just made the mistake of storing cheeses too close together so that the strong ones started to permeate the milder ones. Yuck.

grrr you had to mention trader joes :p haven't been there in ages. When i lived in Kansas closest one was like 25 minutes away and really out of the way so i never went. went all the time when i lived in California. Sadly, now the closest one to where I live is like an hour away
Cheese is a good protein-source...
