Hey all
I've recently found myself in the market for a new binder and, mostly due to hearing everyone talk about it, my first thought was the 997. In fact, I had heard people talk about it so much that somehow I thought this was what I already owned and had been using! When I checked the tag of my binder for size, I noticed that it was actually the 988, which is their "Cotton Concealer Chest Binder." Now, I've loved this thing for a good while, and my only complaint honestly is that towards the end of the day, or if it needs a wash, it can start to crawl upwards on my chest, similar to what pants might do if they're a bit too tight, and end up creeping into every crevice. Easy to fix with a simple tug, but mildly annoying. In recent days however, the compression is only "perfect" for maybe a couple hours at the most, at which point it is just loose enough that should I jump, there is movement.
So what I'm here to ask is what is it that makes the 997 so loved by the community? Is the compression really that superior? Doesn't it put pressure on one's gut?[if so, is it a lot of pressure? like the same amount that goes on the chest?] I hear next to nothing about the 988, and, while it has served me dutifully for a while now, I'm curious about other models that people seem to rave about.
Alternatively, what binder has served you best so far? [and if you'd be willing to share whether you're a bit larger or smaller in the chest, it'd be appreciated. I've ordered binders from both SHO and LesLoveBoat after reading the reviews, and found they simply didn't have the right shape or enough compression for me, as I've got a bit more to be compressed]

I have tried many binders over the years. I settled on the 983 Tri Top and wore that for years. I didn't want the compression on my stomach.
You asked about size. I wore a large.
For what it's worth, I wear 997s and solved the stomach compression issue by putting on the binder, marking where I actually needed the binder to end with a marker, removing the binder and cutting off the unnecessary part. Then sewed all around the bottom of it to hold the double front panel together again. The fabric doesn't seem to unravel at all so good sewing skills are not necessary (lucky me), just needs to be enough to keep it stable again.
Just don't do what I did at first and accidentally sew the inner double layer to the back panel of the binder (thus sewing the binder shut). LOL
997 all the way. I wore xs but probably should of been in a small. I wore it full length and it did great to keep my fat in check.
997 caused my GERD to go crazy. The pressure on my stomach made me puke multiple times a day.
I just got a tri top and it is amazing.
