Loved Demon's Souls.  I have barely played Dark Souls but I hope to play it again soon. Don't know when I'll get to Dark Souls 2.

Gotta love Video Games for their ability to let us escape these issues, eh FalsePrincess? I honestly believe it is the reason I have made it 33 without having a meltdown regarding my gender identity.

Alyssa

Totally

Actually Im planing when I get ds 2 to not leave the damn house for a week
that should be cool
Id rather be in a world full of monsters as a girl rather than the normal one XD

I can't WAIT to play DS2. I played Dark Souls for the first time a few months ago (finally) and I LOVED it so much. It ruined my ability for a while to enjoy most other games (to simple/easy). I was sad when they delayed the PC release, but I think I can hang in there until it comes! Pretty sure I played Dark Souls 3 times through straight.

And yeah... I would have fallen apart a long time ago without the distractions of video games.

I love the Souls games so much xD

I will actually be live streaming the game over the weekend when I get my copy, haven't decided yet whether to do it female mode or not yet...as the regular viewers of my gaming channel have not seen me that way yet >.>

But either way, I look forward to it soooooooo much, counting the days! xD

Hey Danniella, what is your channel address? I wouldn't mind watching some DS2 coverage :)

I got to play for a few hours last night and the game is great so far. I am loving the more open environments and that the game has stuck with its roots while making more accessible for new players. Its funny to watch some of the blood stains of newbies. Seeing them flail and roll around without any thought involved.

I started up my sorcerer again, but I am really missing playing a melee juggernaut. Melee combat is so much fun in this series. I kinda want to dual wield zwiehanders and smash my foes into the dirt.

Alyssa

P.S. So as much as I love this game, it would appear that I love being a woman more. Couldn't resist getting all dressed up even for a day :)

I'm sorry I totally missed this post! We did the livestream...16 hours of DS2, I was destroyed by the end of it. I didn't end up in girl mode throughout, all my stuff was in the wash from a previous night out ^^

The archive footage is up on http://www.twitch.tv/kaijuhunters if you fancy watching me play it for 16 hours D:

The final stats after that were 16 hours player, 10 bosses killed and 26 deaths. Not bad imo :P

Hey Danniella,

26 Deaths is really good actually! I will probably take a look at some of the footage, but I am hoping to avoid spoilers. I usually only get to play an hour or two a night so I am still not that far in.

I have the unfair advantage of being trained to play "Souls" games, I've been with them since Demons Souls so I know juuuust how they work xD

I avoided, and am still avoiding, all media coverage on the game, and I am soooo glad I have! There are some truly amazing twists and surprises that I never saw coming! Talking to people afterwards who have said they had it ruined for them because of spoilers on FAQ sites etc ^^

So I would really recommend keeping yourself in the dark, best experience :)

What kind of build were you going for? I usually play a sorcerer/wizard in every game I play, but I found it to be incredibly weak in the beginning. Not sure if it gets any stronger, but having to use 10 spells on each old knight in the tower of flame was just ridiculous. I decided to go for a strength build instead and I am currently dual wielding great clubs. They wreck things :) I am a huge fan of PvP as well and recently I have been having a great time in the bell tower.

Alyssa

I've been playing two builds, the one I play for livestreaming is an old "Sword and Board" style character, so heavy armour, high poise and equip load, good shield and a bastard sword one handed. It's always been my old trusty playstyle that I adventure in, starting a new game as a spell caster can be hard, as they often mess around with the way magic/pyromancy scales etc and you are useless unless you know where to get more new and better spells etc quickly.

Having said that, my second character (the one I play on my downtime for fun when I can't be bothered streaming) is a spellsword! :D

I agree with you that the soul arrow spells etc can become quite lackluster, especially when compared to older games, but once you get better spells and a weapon with the right scaling, it really picks up!

Magic/fire elemental weapons scale with your fire bonus etc now (which you increase via int and attunement) so getting a fire or lightning sword early (you can get the amazing fire longsword before the first boss!), rushing to get the 10 strength and 9dex to use it and then just going back to levelling your int/att and buying magics + upgrades is AMAZING!

My little sorceress is easily hitting for 50% more damage per swing than my strength build knight was at the same level, just due to the fire scaling on her sword and the magic weapon spell. Then I also have all the additional utility of the ranged spells she can throw out. She is just slaughtering her way through the game, I haven't even summoned any co-op partners with her! It's so much fun to play and completely different from any other build I usually play.

/rant over...I'm at work now and all I want to do is play more DS2 xD

I love the series, plus am pretty good at it (minus when I wander into areas higher level then me) as long as I have arrows, problem in DS2, there seems to never be arrows!

Im almost 30 hours in...close to the end, I love it but the only issue I have is that it has less lore than demons souls...

I almost forgot my other issue, my character lost her boobs and femaleness when I reversed the hollow!  ???

Later you ll find them , I bet they tried to make it harder by not giving you arrows early game...

btw I dont want to  panic you but you may got a sex change on your character...
did you get in a coffin at the tutorial stage?
if so then your character turned male, go back at the coffin and she will turn female again,,,btw when that happened to me I almost got a heart attack.
the female character only loses hair when hollow

Good, cause i need them.

I did, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what it did, that is a very very odd feature.

Yeah that coffin confused the hell out of me at first...apparently there is no other use than a gender swap...

If only it was that easy in real life :D

Yeah the coffin was funny. I was playing with a couple of friends and one was playing a female character. We were waiting around to summon the other friend and for some reason he took some of his armor off. We both were like WTF, why does you character have a female face, but a male body. I couldn't help but mute my mic and LOL. They made comments about trans (thankfully not ->-bleeped-<- or anything derogatory) and we carried on. I just found it quite amusing, thinking to myself, "If you guys only knew...".

My main is currently a male character. My first was female, but the incredibility broad shoulders looked way to masculine to me and it kinda made me sad looking at her, because my shoulders are one of my triggers. I usually have a mix of male and female characters, but my females ones always become my favorite. They also must always have purple hair :)

I am happy that they improved to damage on arrows in this version. Still not on par with melee, but it is a step in the right direction. My main has a 15 dex (to be able to dual wield ultra greatswords) so it is nice have a range weapon that can do a bit of damage. It's also a very nice option to have against PvP's that are cowardly :) An arrow to the chest can quickly disrupt a caster with crappy poise.

Alyssa

Hehe sounds good xD Not done much co-op myself, I generally prefer the PvE element of the game over all the PvP stuff etc.

I've not really tried out arrows at all, aside form using the odd chip damage to pull a mob from a particularly bad pack or something.

But I too bond with my female avatars better, and mine all must have red hair! :D

I figured it was to respawn enemies at first.

If only *Sigh*

personally i think the series is a bit overrated, and that the story is too vague and confusing, but i like the combat, i'm waiting for dark souls 2 to come out to PC so i can play it! and i also like the different styles of weapons and builds, my favorite is either thief or warrior, i really like those badass looking big swords and axes!

actually i don't think the other 2 were hard once you memorize the enemy location and block effectively, let's see if DS2 improved on that, i'm quite excited for the challenge, but i think that most people that say that the game is too hard die because they rush too fast into the areas, don't use the lock-on mechanic like angry joe, aren't cautious entering areas with shield raised and don't memorize the enemy locations, even after they were just killed

Ah, I don't want this....

Simply because, I couldn't get past the very first boss in Dark Souls! the nightmares! Dark souls is too much for me! I'd love to be as good as you guys.... As for difficulty, I think Fable 1 is impossible! I'm still jealous though!
