Title: Updates in my battle with homelessness
Post by: MugwortPsychonaut on March 06, 2014, 11:49:44 PM
A friend of mine offered me a place to stay. I got excited. "Wow! A place to live!" No, no... it's a place to stay. I can stay in a small room at his house for a week at a time. I can't have much stuff there.

Another friend told me he was looking for a roommate. He lives in the ghetto, but the rent's cheap. I went over tonight to meet his roommates and see the house. Yeah, the house is a crummy house. There's a big dog in the house, and in the room I would have, the walls and ceiling are crumbling.

Oh, and one of the rooms has bedbugs.

So I'm back to square nothing. I lose my house Tuesday. I have no job, no money, nowhere to go, a ton of stuff, and nowhere to put it.

This sucks so much. I hate life. I can't do this ->-bleeped-<-.

Why don't you get off your high horse and accept the help that's being offered to you? I sleep on racks in a tent just to get bit by spiders and whatever else decides to crawl around on me at night. You're not back to square one, you have more progress than you're willing to admit. A crummy house is better than no house.

Edit: Sorry if this sounded very blunt, but you need to be willing to accept help before it can be of any use to you.

Bedbugs are no joke. I wouldn't want to live there, either.

Can you not accept the first friend's offer, put your stuff into storage, and look for a cheap roommate situation without bedbugs?

Go with the place to stay, it will give you the opportunity to sort everything else out and hopefully find good ongoing accommodation. Take care!

It's a place to stay for a week. That's hardly permanent. It's like a hotel. A hotel with a manager who has a problem with needle drugs.

And just like Arch said, bedbugs are no joke.

The only thing I can do is to move my stuff back to my parents' house and stay at my friend's for a week at a time. I'm terrified of finding him dead in the living room. ->-bleeped-<- drugs. Oh right. "->-bleeped-<-" gets deleted on here.

Can you not wash the sheets every now and again? You're parents are letting you move your things into their house but not their child? Lastly for your first friend, under what circumstances does he have a room available for a week at a time and not several weeks or even a month?
