Has anyone else here come out working in restaurants? How did it go for you?
It seems like all the advice people have for coming out at work don't really apply. It's a weird hierarchy, and usually no HR department. Not to mention it's like working in a frat house. People get hired and fired all the time and it's really easy to discriminate without consequences.
Who did you come out to, Chef or owner/manager? How did you come out to everyone else? I need to do this soon and I have no clue how!
One of my best friends here is a C.I.A.-trained private chef. She has a list of clients who are aware of her transition, but otherwise she is pretty much stealth.
I work in the industry and haven't had too much trouble - apart from the usual stuff..
I'd suggest the person who does the hiring/firing is the person you need to speak to. You didn't mention if you were in the food prep or wait staff camp (I'm presuming the former). Hopefully it will have more to do with how you do your job rather than anything to do with you being trans*. All the best!

That's intriguing and scary at the same time!
